The only person who's benefitting from this is eventual Governor-designate Juliana Stratton, once Pritzker goes down the route of Blagojevich.
Illinois Dems are the literal worst. The IL GOP aren't that much better. This state is everything people hate about third-world-style mobster politics.

You can say the same thing about New Jersey politics as well. NJ and IL has corrupt state politics. Sad.

Newman was briefly leading Lipinski, but Lipinski has retaken the lead.

Looking at the map alone, I would have said Rauner won by 25 points.

Agreed. He is underperforming significantly in Chicagoland. The days of the moderate suburbs Republicans are gone.
Meanwhile, he's cleaning up downstate. I'm sure he's fine in the GE.

Moderate suburban Republicanism can still win, it depends on the circumstances. Affluent DuPage could be won by the right Republican.

Illinois is quite a walking stereotype.

This is going to be a weird map on the R gov side, something like 4 concentric circles around Chicago. The inner circle is cook and Lake, which Rauner will win. Then there is the Collars, which Ives will win - she should flip McHenry and DuPage as the votes come in. Then is the upper part of downstate, with Champlain, Sangamon, and Winnebago acting as the three anchor points. Rauner wins this. Then there is the outer band, or deep downstate and extreme periphery like Rock Island and forgottonia. Ives wins here.

Quinn and Ives look like they could just barely make it if they do well enough in the remainder of Dupage.

Considering the neighboring counties and how quinn only leads dupage by 5 votes...Raoul still has votes to bank there.

Yeah so what's the deal with this? Never heard about this until I checked returns earlier this evening. NYT's description is pretty nondescript.

and even sort of a 5th band in the S/SW along the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers for Rauner.

And a similar non-binding question will appear statewide in November

I wonder if in the end Ives derogatory ad ultimately did her more damage than benefit.

Can I just say how hilarious it is that Quinn thought he could stage a political comeback with the AG race?

Jerry Brown did it.  (Although he first became the state party chair and then mayor of Oakland.)
Yeah, but Jerry Brown is good.

Trump really exacerbated the urban-suburban cleavage.
