I mean, you think one can do otherwise? I have been teaching for decades now: every single joke I use in class is canned and comes at an appropriate moment to appear spontaneous (all tested through experience).  Does become a bit awkward if you teach more than one section of the same stuff in the same semester.

Of course, if I had staff, I would charge them with inventing new jokes. Doing otherwise would be simply unprofessional.
