Turn 4 - February 3 to February 9, 2016

Let's take a look at the Iowa results and ahead to the races in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada. Cheesy

The Liberals

Brian Schweitzer - 24% (14 Delegates)
John Kerry - 24% (14 Delegates)
Chris Murphy - 24% (14 Delegates)
Hillary Clinton - 18% (12 Delegates)
Joe Kennedy - 10% (6 Delegates)

The Liberal leadership election in Iowa was, to say the least, an absolute nailbiter, with the top three candidates receiving almost identical amounts of support and each carrying equal delegate hauls. While Schweitzer, who led in the polls up to the day of the election, dominated in the more rural western and southern portions of the state, John Kerry and Chris Murphy each overperformed on election day, with Kerry taking most of the Des Moines area and Murphy thriving on the socially liberal eastern parts of the state. Meanwhile, Kennedy and Clinton both saw increased support too, with Kennedy increasing his margin in New Hampshire and Clinton expected to do well in South Carolina.

Nationwide - February 3

John Kerry - 29%
Hillary Clinton - 25%
Chris Murphy - 15%
Brian Schweitzer - 14%
Joe Kennedy - 6%
Undecided - 11%

New Hampshire - February 3

Joe Kennedy - 28%
Hillary Clinton - 24%
John Kerry - 21%
Chris Murphy - 14%
Brian Schweitzer - 8%
Undecided - 5%

South Carolina - February 3

Hillary Clinton - 27%
Chris Murphy - 22%
Brian Schweitzer - 16%
John Kerry - 16%
Joe Kennedy - 11%
Undecided - 8%

Nevada - February 3

John Kerry - 24%
Joe Kennedy - 21%
Hillary Clinton - 20%
Brian Schweitzer - 19%
Chris Murphy - 15%
Undecided - 11%

The Conservatives

Todd Young - 43% (26 Delegates)
John Kasich - 29% (17 Delegates)
Cathy McMorris Rogers - 28% (17 Delegates)

The Conservative leadership election in Iowa was a clear victory for Todd Young, with the Indiana MP winning the state by a massive fourteen points and gaining an early nine-delegate lead over each of his opponents. Despite falling slightly short of a second place finish in Iowa, Rogers has enhanced her status as a national frontrunner, having increased her lead across the nation to a record nine points after an endorsement from Marco Rubio. Meanwhile, Kasich has held his lead in New Hampshire and opened up an early lead in Nevada.

Nationwide - February 3

Cathy McMorris Rogers - 36%
Todd Young - 27%
John Kasich - 21%
Undecided - 16%

New Hampshire - February 3

John Kasich - 32%
Cathy McMorris Rogers - 30%
Todd Young - 25%
Undecided - 13%

South Carolina - February 3

Cathy McMorris Rogers - 37%
Todd Young - 36%
John Kasich - 16%
Undecided - 11%

Nevada - February 3

John Kasich - 31%
Todd Young - 30%
Cathy McMorris Rogers - 29%
Undecided - 10%

The Nationalists

Joni Ernst - 50% (30 Delegates)
Ted Cruz - 38% (23 Delegates)
Pat Buchanan - 12% (7 Delegates)

In the end, Ernst won her home state by a convincing margin, winning 50% of the popular vote and pulling half of all delegates. While Cruz's heavy early investment in Iowa ended up not paying off, he has seen a comfortable increase in national support and still holds significant leads in New Hampshire and South Carolina. Meanwhile, Buchanan, who did not invest heavily in the Iowa election, appears to have taken an early lead in Nevada and remains competitive in New Hampshire despite a relatively short week of campaigning.

Nationwide - February 3

Ted Cruz - 39%
Joni Ernst - 28%
Pat Buchanan - 25%
Undecided - 8%

New Hampshire - February 3

Ted Cruz - 41%
Pat Buchanan - 35%
Joni Ernst - 15%
Undecided - 9%

South Carolina - February 3

Ted Cruz - 43%
Pat Buchanan - 25%
Joni Ernst - 24%
Undecided - 8%

Nevada - February 3

Pat Buchanan - 32%
Joni Ernst - 32%
Ted Cruz - 29%
Undecided - 7%

The Progressives

Elizabeth Warren - 25% (15 Delegates)
Bernie Sanders - 25% (15 Delegates)
Tulsi Gabbard - 23% (14 Delegates)
Suzan DelBene - 15% (9 Delegates)
Sherrod Brown - 12% (7 Delegates)

The Progressive election in Iowa was another nailbiter, with Warren barely inching out Sanders for a first-place victory. While Sanders remains ahead nationwide, Warren's victory in Iowa has increased her support, with Gabbard also seeing an increase in support as a result of her strong second-place finish. Sanders appears to still be ahead comfortably in New Hampshire, while South Carolina remains close and DelBene has developed an advantage in Nevada.

Nationwide - February 3

Bernie Sanders - 28%
Elizabeth Warren - 24%
Suzan DelBene - 20%
Sherrod Brown - 11%
Tulsi Gabbard - 10%
Undecided - 7%

New Hampshire - February 3

Bernie Sanders - 40%
Sherrod Brown - 20%
Elizabeth Warren - 15%
Suzan DelBene - 12%
Tulsi Gabbard - 6%
Undecided - 7%

South Carolina - February 3

Tulsi Gabbard - 21%
Sherrod Brown - 20%
Elizabeth Warren - 19%
Bernie Sanders - 19%
Suzan DelBene - 13%
Undecided - 8%

Nevada - February 3

Suzan DelBene - 25%
Bernie Sanders -24%
Elizabeth Warren - 21%
Sherrod Brown - 9%
Tulsi Gabbard - 8%
Undecided - 13%

The Jacksonians

Joe Manchin - 33% (20 Delegates)
Donald Trump - 31% (18 Delegates)
Jon Bel Edwards - 21% (13 Delegates)
Carte Goodwin - 15% (9 Delegates)

Despite a Manchin victory in Iowa, the national horserace for Jacksonian leadership is now as close as ever, with Trump and Manchin statistically tied for a lead nationwide. Meanwhile, Jon Bel Edwards' southern base has become increasingly evident, with the Louisiana Premier holding a significant early advantage in the state of South Carolina. Trump, meanwhile, has maintained his lead in New Hampshire, while opening up an early lead in the state of Nevada as well.

Nationwide - February 3

Joe Manchin - 28%
Donald Trump - 27%
Jon Bel Edwards - 21%
Carte Goodwin - 15%
Undecided - 9%

New Hampshire - February 3

Donald Trump - 38%
Joe Manchin - 26%
Jon Bel Edwards - 16%
Carte Goodwin - 11%
Undecided - 9%

South Carolina - February 3

Jon Bel Edwards - 35%
Joe Manchin - 23%
Carte Goodwin - 15%
Donald Trump - 14%
Undecided - 13%

Nevada - February 3

Donald Trump - 31%
Joe Manchin - 27%
Carte Goodwin - 20%
Jon Bel Edwards - 16%
Undecided - 6%

The Independents

Rob Portman - 34% (21 Delegates)
Bill Weld - 28% (17 Delegates)
Elon Musk - 19% (11 Delegates)
Rand Paul - 19% (11 Delegates)

Following a comfortable victory in Iowa, Rob Portman has been able to maintain his national lead. Meanwhile, each of the next three primary states have each seen their own frontrunners emerge, with Musk holding a comfortable lead in New Hampshire and Paul and Weld each holding slight advantages in South Carolina and Nevada, respectively.

Nationwide - February 3

Rob Portman - 32%
Bill Weld - 22%
Rand Paul - 22%
Elon Musk - 16%
Undecided - 8%

New Hampshire - February 3

Elon Musk - 32%

Starting next turn, we will be operating under a slightly modified schedule in order to expedite the delegate allocation process. Some turns will last two weeks, with all primaries that happen that turn occurring at the end of the two weeks. The following is the new list of turns in the game, along with which states will hold primaries at the end of each turn:

Of course, turns that last two weeks don't mean that you should double the size of your schedules Tongue.

Earlier this evening, Senator Cruz made a remark at his rally in Alabama saying "Earlier today, I heard about the death of Larry Sanders, the brother of Bernie Sanders. STATEMENT ON THE ENDORSEMENT OF THE 603 ALLIANCE

Senator Cruz made this statement earlier after hearing the news of the endorsement of New Hampshire's largest and most active constitutional conservative group, The 603 Alliance. The Alliance which has thousands of New Hampshirites in its ranks backed Cruz in a sweeping margin in its caucus. Senator Cruz said, "I am very pleased to hear that the 603 Alliance, has backed our campaign. Our campaign will fight for our shared values of constitutional conservatism and we thank them for their endorsement. We will be working very closely with our friends in the 603 Alliance to get out our supporters to the polls in the upcoming New Hampshire Primary.

Chris Murphy Victory Speech

Thank you Iowa! When we started this campaign, we would’ve been lucky to get 3rd place. Nobody knew who we were. Well, they know us now! *Cheering* Now, here we are locked in a tie for 1st with John Kerry and Brian Schweitzer. Our national numbers have nearly doubled, we are looking extremely competitive in New Hampshire, and are on the path to winning South Carolina and then Nevada, where currently it’s anyone’s game.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate John Kerry and Brian Schweitzer on this hard fought result in Iowa, and Joe Kennedy and Hillary Clinton on their efforts as well. But, there is no denying that we are the ones with momentum, and we are going to storm through these contests and demonstrate what Liberalism in America is really about! We're going to show the other parties that maintaining the status quo just simply isn't good enough. That burning fossil fuels and permanently harming the Earth for our children and grandchildren must stop. That students should not be financially ruined for years because they want to pursue an education and earn their degrees. We have a long road ahead of us, but I believe together we can tackle these problems with honest solutions. Next stop, New Hampshire!

STATEMENT FROM HILLARY CLINTON IN RESPONSE TO THE DEATH OF LARRY SANDERS, BROTHER OF PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATE BERNIE SANDERS

I am saddened to hear of the death of Larry Sanders. He was a man who devoted his life to helping others and fighting for better conditions for the middle class in the United Kingdom, just as his younger brother Bernie continues to do here in the United States. I extend my deepest sympathies to the Sanders family at their time of grief.

Rand Paul Concedes

An emotional Rand Paul delivers concession speech to his supporters in Iowa

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

AP -- Coming off a surprise 4th place finish in Iowa, Deputy Leader Rand Paul delivered the above remarks to his supporters in Iowa before setting off for New Hampshire. The state is seen as the perfect place to make a comeback, with New Hampshire's "leave me the hell alone" attitude in line with Rand Paul's libertarian-lite philosophy. A campaign spokesperson confirmed that a schedule would be released to the media soon, whilst the campaign readjusts itself for the next contests.

Elizabeth Warren's Victory Speech

My fellow Americans, dear volunteers, my friends,

all votes have not been counted yet, and it is still very, very close, but it seems that we have won the Iowa caucus! *Cheers* Let me first thank my fellow competitors, who have all been running motivated and inspiring issue-based campaigns, and who have been treating each other not like opponents or enemies, but like friends and colleagues, who fight for the same values and the same progress in our society. *Cheers* And now, I want to thank all volunteers who made this campaign strong and let us clear the first hurdle for leadership of the Progressive Party of America. *tumultuous applause*

In the last few weeks campaigning across the country, we have made clear who we are and what we want. We are a movement which fights for a Progressive Party which is building bridges and is ready to assume responsibility on the one hand, but has irrevocable ideals and self-confidence on the other hand. This victory today is not just a victory for Elizabeth Warren. It is a victory for the single mother fighting for her children and herself, it is a victory for the nurses and the janitors, for the plumbers and the teachers, for everyone, who puts huge effort in his job and makes America a better place to live, it is a victory for the girls and women who have to fight against the structural sexism in this country, it is a victory for everyone who gets discriminated because of his or her gender, the color of his or her skin or his or her sexual orientation. *tumultuous applause*

This victory has encouraged me to continue our fight for a more fair and progressive country. The momentum is on our side. And now we are going to carry this fight to New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, and we are going to win, we are going to clinch the nomination and we are going to built a new America. Thank you! *Cheers*

Statement from Elizabeth Warren in Response to the Death of Larry Sanders

With huge dismay and deep grief I learned today that my competitor, my long-standing colleague and my close and trusted friend, Mr. Bernard Sanders, has to face the tragic loss of his loved brother, Larry Sanders. I want to express my condolences and my deepest sympathies to Mr. Bernard Sanders and his family. This shall not be the time of great campaign rhetoric and competition. I will reduce my campaign events in the next few days in deference to Mr. Sanders' period or mourning and reflection, and also I expect my fellow competitors for the leadership of the Progressive Party to do so. I know Mr. Sanders toughness very well and I am sure that Mr. Sanders will recover from this tragic occurence soon. I want to encourage him in this challenging and difficult period.

In the game, Turn 4 lasts from February 3 to February 9 (which is the date of the New Hampshire primary). In real life, you have until Saturday, August 20 at 3:00 PM EST to post your campaign materials. Feel free to message me with any other questions Smiley

We have to assume that news and foreign events are the same in the game as they are in our timeline, right?

Yes. Feel free to use current events in your campaign materials as they happen if you'd like. Smiley

Rob Portman suspends his campaign, will hold endorsement until leadership elections are finished.

RL: sorry everyone, I've become too busy with work to keep up with this. It was fun.
