I don't! Swap Texas for MO and it'll be fine though...  (j/k)

Here's my proposal:

Populations:
NY et al: 21
PA et al: 21
FL et al: 23
MN et al: 22
CA et al: 22

I endorse this map.

This map is good.

I agree I think this one is the best of those presented thus far.

This is a map I like.

I like Joe's map a lot too...plus it has very defined regionality. The orange is west, the blue is midwest, the red is northeast, the green is southeast, and the yellow is...yet another region we'll have difficulty naming. Smiley

We have regions, we don't need the districts to be clones of them. Look for something new here, change is good.

(Yes, I used 'coma' as a verb; but I didn't want to stretch the forum out toooo much by copying and pasting 'GOINTOACOMA' multiple times.

Texas is in a weird spot, but I really like the bright primary colors and thin, lightly shaded state borders. It's a winner! Smiley

If the Southeast Governor votes for, or proposes any of ilikeverin's insane maps, he will face an immediate recall petition, started by me of course.
Both (PD) Peter Bell's and Joe Republic's maps are acceptable to me.

Assuming that the only changes from the voter list are the four people listed in the first post, we have 115 voters which would ideally be 5 districts of exactly 23 voters.  Howeve,r that also requires a discontigous district in the northeastern area of Atlasia.  The following is a reasonably good map with a minimal number of chages from the current districts.

District 1 - 24 voters, 4 States
DC, MD, PA, VA

District 2 - 22 voters, 9 States
CT, DE, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VT

District 3 - 23 voters, 10 States
IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, ND, OH, SD, VI, WV

District 4 - 23 voters, 13 States
AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY

District 5 - 23 voters 15 States
AL, AR, FL, GA, KS, KY, LA, MO, NC, NS, NE, OK, SC, TN, TX

However, if history is any guide, this map made from data 10 days prior to the offical census date will probably be useless come July 1.

I'm sick snf tired of district maps that need to follow some sort of pre-concieved notion about geograpical regions.  That is why I endorse Joe Rebpublic's map.  It is more "outside of the box" that the other proposals.

Dark Red: 22
Green: 23
Gray: 22
Red: 24
Blue 24

That's using Ernest's numbers.

My map was meant to be a compromise that tried not to stick too closely to the regional map.  But ultimately, does anybody expect certain illogical members of the forum to allow the Southeastern states to be split up or grouped with the inferior Yankee states?  I'm surprised none of them have so far commented on me having to separate Texas from the rest of the South, due to population restrictions.

The Southeasterners who would complain about this only represent 1/5 of the voters on this issue. If all the other Governors consent, you can pass any map you want without the Southeast's consent, I believe.

Ernest's numbers will end up being incorrect: The particulars of how the census is carried out have changed under the new Constitution. Only persons who voted in the last election will be counted in the census on 1st July.

People can still take into consideration the other 4 voters in existence, but they won't count in working out whether a map meets the constitutional population requirements.
