Above is the distribution of voters who voted in the last election - the basis of the federal census, and thus redistricting. The federal census will be finalised at noon on Friday 1st July - Since True Dem has told me that he will be away, I suppose I will be doing the finalising.

For those of you who care, there are four more voters on the rolls who will not be included on the map:
Afleitch (WA)
AuH2O (SC)
Huck Finn (NY)
Ben (VA) - just registered
Clay (GA)

Anybody who wants to fill the gaps, feel free.

Wow, New York is in the single digits of population?  That was quite the population exodus since last time.

Well, 111 is exactly how many people voted, so thats right.

Impossible under contiguity rules - the rest of New England would be too far from MD and VA to link up with them

New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont would be possible, though.

As such, I'd like to put foward the following maps (note that all have a mere one Senator per district, and are thus not gerrymandered politically):

A sane one (Yes, I know, all the 'old fogies' from the forum are probably shocked); I think almost everyone would be fine with this one.

I call this one the 'Screw the South' map, because the Southeast could really use some major screwing right now.

I call this one the 'ILV and Friends!' map, because I tried to put as many people I consider friends (or at least, friendly aquaintances) in the green district as possible! Cheesy  (Note: as I have two Senate friends, and I did not want to put them in the same district so they'd have to run against each other, I had to put the Senate friend that is geographically closest to me in my district.  Also, if I forgot any forum friends, I'm sorry Sad I tried to get as many of you in my district as possible)

Although I am not Governor, I hope that at least one of these maps is put forward, though I'd prefer all three.

Why not swap Colorado, Wyoming and Montana for Texas? That would be more aesthetically pleasing to say the least

This one is good, but if MHS2002 gets elected, it will have two Senators. Perhaps Vermont could become part of the the orange district, and Connecticut could join the blue district. Also, if this were done, the blue district would become contiguous.

My other suggestion on this map would be to make Texas a part of the green district, and Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado a part of the red district.

King said he won't run for re-election so if MHS gets elected no troubles.

No, I rather like the Midwest being whole ...umm...

I dunno, to me it'd look rather odd to see Texas sticking out randomly.

Decent my suggestions would be:

Give Ohio to the Green District, TX, OK, and MO to the Yellow District and MT, WY and WY should go into the Red District

What's the maximum variance of population between the districts again?

Three more than the minimum possible variance, I believe.

Blue East - 21
Grey - 24
Green - 22
Red - 21
Blue West - 23

This map is mostly about keeping as close to what we presently have as is reasonable.

This I can live with -it is at least saner than any of the ones ILV is proposing.
