There is precedent for replacing a candidate this late in the cycle in a Senate race (Lautenberg replacing Torricelli in Jersey in 2002). Never in a presidential race though

On the other hand, campaign law in Missouri didn't allow Mel Carnahan to be replaced on the ballot when he passed away around this time in 2000. If Trump dropped out and Republicans wanted to replace him with Pence on the ballot, it would cause a huge clusterf**k. There would probably be many lawsuits across many states, ballots would have to be reprinted, and they would probably lose Trump's core support either way.

Yeah, I have no idea how many states would still allow a replacement, but judging by the fact that McMullin is apparently stuck with his fictitious running mate, it appears it's not many.

It's too late for Republicans to replace him and have any chance whatsoever of winning. They sealed their fate in July, and now their best hope is to have the entire party denounce him, and hope for more success in Senate and House races.

I cannot and will not support Donald Trump for president. He has forfeited the right to be our party’s nominee.

The national chair of the College Republicans, Alex Smith, said on her personal FB that she isn't voting for Trump (and not Clinton either).

If Ryan comes out and does the same, I think we'll see a tidal wave.

Of course currently elected Republican officials aren't coming out for Clinton. That'd be just as much suicide as supporting Trump right now. They know what will happen with Trump on election night and beyond, they're just trying to save their asses in 2018 and beyond.

It already was, but yes, now it's more off the map than ever before.

You posted a vulgarity, not a profanity, God damn it! By the Holy Blood of Christ, it irks me when people get the two mixed up, unless they really are mixed up, merde sacrée!

Pence-Carson would be a terrible ticket imo but I would take them over Trump in a heartbeat.

LOL. Gardner is not anti-condom. He said that a lot of times, but this is not surprising from a democratic hack.

that's a "step aside," not saying what she'll do if he doesn't.
