Assuming Cruz doesn't get it, I'll vote for Paul, though seeing as Paul will be out after New Hampshire, I'd probably protest vote for Trump. That's my personal petty little act of revenge for the way the Paul delegates were treated at the 2012 convention.

But yeah, I plan on voting for Cruz. He's the best candidate to keep the liberty movement in the GOP together until 2020/2024, when Rand will be more seasoned to take the mantle. This just isn't our year.

You actually believe CRUZ is the best for the liberty movement?

You actually believe Senator 2% is better? This is why we are losing. Sometimes we have to sacrifice a little bit of principle to stay united and active until the right moment comes. And it will come.

I'm taking it that most O'Malley voters in this poll most likely have Sanders as their first choice.

If I couldn't vote for Clinton, I would cross over and vote for TRUMP in the Republican primary.

1st choice: Rubio
2nd choice: Cruz

But Fiorina and Christie would also be excellent.

Hillary, I'd feel dirty about it...but she's probably who it will come to to stop the Republicans.

Rubio now because Paul is just to damn desperate to get anyone's support.

Rubio is attacking Cruz because Cruz doesn't support the Patriot Act. If that's not desperate, I don't know what else is.

Rubio's just a younger, Cuban George W. Bush: establishment-aligned neocon who does an okay job pandering to social conservatives. If you're a constitutional conservative, which I have known you as, Paul is a better second-choice than Rubio in basically every way imaginable except looks.

Since Chafee dropped out, I don't really have one.

Most of these people have major negatives that are probably deal-breakers for me. Like, if you're in favor of Bush-esque nation-building and regime change, you're out. If you think it's so important to keep gays from getting married that you have literally made it a priority of yours to overturn the 9th, 10th, and 14th amendments in order to do so, you're out. If you're opposed to legal immigration, you're out. If you like the idea of the government spying on people, you're out. If you like the idea of the government controlling the economy, you're out. If you like the idea of the government controlling the internet, you're out. If you have only a few issues with positions and you're main talking point is "just trust me, I'll make great deals! Best deals ever!" you're out (but also endlessly entertaining).

There's probably more (oh, eminent domain is horrific), but I also have things that aren't exactly deal-breakers (I need some candidates) but stuff I really like to see: legalizing marijuana would be good, eliminating the IRS would be good, auditing the Fed would be good, and I am certainly opposed to both abortion and the death penalty--those are not good. Reforming the criminal justice system is something I'd also love to see happen.

I tried to word all of that hodge-podge manifesto* carefully, by the way. Like, you can be "personally opposed" to gay marriage all you want, but if you want to waste political capital and crap all over the constitution trying to reverse laws legalizing it, political capitol that could be spent shrinking the size of government, finding a way to stop ISIS without sending thousands of Americans to die in another long, stupid war, putting together a sensible immigration plan, or solving any of our many *real* problems, you're, frankly, an idiot.

As far as my second choice (you can tell this isn't easy)...maybe...Cruz? Ehhhh...perhaps I'm just warming to him due to Rubio attacking him as an isolationist and Santorum attacking him as "weak" (read: not completely stupid) on gay marriage, but he seems to pass my criteria sort of closely (even if some things he only squeaks by on if even then).

Or maybe Gilmore ironically. (Ironically supporting Trump is too mainstream.)

Real answer, though? Gary F-ing Johnson.

*"Hodge-Podge Manifesto" would be an awesome name for a band.
