I couldn't watch the damned thing from Canada, where I'm spending a few days.  Sounds like the consensus is that Hillary won.  My guess is that, in the end, it will be a Rubio-Clinton race.

But part of the cynic in me would really fancy a race between Trump and Sanders.  Let America have a one-off race between the berserk tycoon and the mad-as-hell socialist, and then have to live with the consequences of however the election turned out for a term.  I'm told a good old Bacchanalia helps sometimes.

Clinton won pretty decisively, but I think Bernie might win the media narrative.

Two candidates absolutely bomb. The three others did great though. My ranking is similar to almost everyone else though, I suspect:

1. Hillary
2. Bernie
3. Martin
.

.
.
4. Jim Webb
5. Licoln

I think Hillary won, but it was enough of a draw with Sanders to ensure that the only people who go up in the polls are Webb and O'Malley.

Most people at the CNN focus group thought Sanders won the debate.

Most people at the CNN focus group thought Sanders won the debate.

This is true, but I doubt this moved the needle.  Hillary's support hardened.  Bernie's behind.  I think, also, that over time, the "Democratic Socialist" moniker is going to scare just enough Democrats to vote for Clinton.

Martin O'Malley came across as the most presidential.

Order of performance:

O'Malley
Clinton
Sanders
Webb

O'Malley. Atlas is dead wrong...

O'Malley did very well but he came off a little weird, like a guy who was really high trying not to act high.

Clinton, on the other hand, also answered questions well but was also the only person who talked like a normal person, in a conversational tone, and seemed comfortable.

Sanders won, he had the best moments.

Clinton obviously did well though and had the most consistent performance throughout.

The other three were pointless and at times embarrassing.

The moderators shafted Webb in terms of the time he was given.  I was kind of hoping he'd walk out halfway through the debate.  He looked ready for the job.  He did look markedly more conservative than the rest of the field, and probably too conservative to be the Democratic nominee in today's Democratic Party.

O'Malley. Atlas is dead wrong...

It usually is about these things. Appealing to political nerds is very different from appealing to the primary electorate.

That said, aside from Anderson Cooper, I'd say it was a tie between the top three.

Hillary. It was clear tonight none of the other candidates pose a threat to her nomination.

Clinton showed strength and knowledge. She didn't have any big moments, so I'll grant you that.

Sanders didn't hurt his cause, but if there's a 'winner' it was Clinton, clearly.

Atlas saying Hillary won is just like atlas saying Kasich won.

And Bernie is Obama 2.0?

Look - we'll see where things go. I think Hillary won, clearly. But the internets say otherwise. We'll see what happens once the polling noise clears.

CNN and Fox both say Hillary won, although Hannity still thinks she's terrible.  Roger Stone says Trump will whoop her ass

CNN is saying both Clinton and Sanders did well, not sure about Fox though.

You could have replaced Sanders with a bunch of YouTube clips of Sanders speeches and it would not have made much of a difference. If you call that winning...

Your problem there is that O'Malley appeals exclusively to political nerds.

The raw charisma of Lincoln Chafee has swept the Atlantic. Even now late at night, I cannot slumber, images of the dynamo Lincoln Chafee the Granite Man from Rhode Island overwhelming my quaint British mind. Not as a joke zero percent figure, but as a statesman who rose metric kilometres above his opponents. God bless Lincoln Chafee, and I do believe that is an appropriate name, given his presidential namesake. My friends, we have truly seen a political rebirthing. Of the Democratic Party, of the granite man and of America herself.

Once, the Republicans were the Party of Lincoln, but tonight I think we can truly say that in the 21st century the Democrats are the new Party of Lincoln.
