don't ask bushie to gauge the reaction of another human being to his antics. this is a guy who has no idea his boss hates him until the second he gets fired.

I am home from a really good day at work.

This will be an early night for me as I'll probably go to bed around 2130 and get up at 0315 in the morning to watch the clock strike midnight in Kiritimati and Samoa.  I will then go about my New Year's Eve celebrations like I had previously mentioned before Christmas.  I will work from 0800-1400 tomorrow and will go to my New Year's party at 1730 and stay until 0030.  I'll probably go to bed around 0200 or 0230 Thursday morning after all of the lower 48 has entered 2015.  I will be awake for 23 straight hours, but I've done that many times before.  That's another reason why I don't want to drink tomorrow night.  I'll be fatigued enough as it is, I don't want to pass out like a bum on their living room floor from being too relaxed...

I tried to speak words in response to this but I literally couldn't speak for about ten seconds.

The writers haven't done a chocolate factory episode yet, so there's always that option.

So, you could sleep a bit and enjoy your social gathering tonight or watch this [Inks] and this is what you choose?

With all of the time off they're giving Bushie, his next paycheck should be pocket change.

Another time zone is about to jump. I can picture Bushie, giddy with excitement as he presses his browser's refresh button over and over.

Last I checked, NY Eve isn't a holiday so letting everyone bug out at noon, means 5 hour unpaid.......then off again on Friday......no money......ugh.

At the time of your post, Bangladesh was about to jump.  Now, we're waiting on Iran at 1430 and Kenya at 1500.

Grumps,

Part of this is we're still in the Christmas/New Year's holiday mode.  I lose four hours today, but Friday is in anticipation of some freezing rain and/or sleet that is supposed to hit.  Half of us live 30+ miles from work and since we don't have any work that is pressing for Friday, he gave us the option and everybody chose the day off.  We do have work coming in, but all of it can wait until Monday.  I'll get back to normal on Monday.  There are no more company holidays until Memorial Day, so we should be able to string together several 40 hour weeks back-to-back.

Nobody seems to be in the New Years spirit this year outside of ODF. Probably because it's a Wednesday.

Christmas and New Year's do fall on terrible days this year for most workers.  Terrible in that they are not connected directly to a weekend.  With the holidays on Tuesday or Thursday, though, it is normally fairly simple to take the adjoining Monday or Friday off and make it a long weekend.  The worst day for it to fall on is Wednesday when there are two days between that and the weekend on either side.  Case in point: 2013.  I was fortunate in that I was in school so I had three weeks off.  Christmas 2015 and New Year's 2016 will both be on Friday, so that's a nearly automatic three day weekend.  Christmas 2016 and New Year's 2017 will fall on Sunday, so most people would have Monday off as the official observances of the holidays.

If they had to pay him for his time off, he'd have been fired a month ago.
