Do you feel there was a conspiracy behind the murder of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States?

Can we have an option 2 without LBJ?

Conspiracy is such a vague term. In its literal sense, certainly very probable, although I doubt the more prominent conspiracy theories.

Yes, I think so, probably. The definition of a conspiracy is that more than one person was involved. My inclination is to think that it probably involved right-wing Cuban exiles and rogue CIA elements (one of Oswald's friends, George de Mohrenschildt, is now widely known to be a CIA asset and later conveniently "killed himself" right before being called to testify before the House Select Committee on Assassinations. Please.) instead of an organised coup d'etat but who knows?

Yeah there probably was. Whether they were involved in the actual assassination of the man is another question.

I am inclined to agree with this. I doubt the CIA, Industrialists, Israel, Richard Nixon, or aliens were involved, but if a few racists can take out a federal building in Oklahoma City, than why can't a cell of homegrown Communists take him out?

Yes--other group or individuals

I do think there was a conspiracy (as Franzi said, in the literal sense "a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful") but the term is so abused by detractors that it's come to take on a new meaning.

If there was a conspiracy then why did Lee Harvey Oswald leave work and shoot a cop immediately after the assassination? Conspiracy theorists like to forget this.

I'd say option 5.

Nah, they weren't competent enough - and it doesn't sound like their MO (and if it was them, why didn't follow it up with something else?)

That is my belief, although I have no opinions as to who was behind the conspiracy. My belief is just that Kennedy's assassination was larger than simply Lee Harvey Oswald, so place on the "yes, but unsure of conspirators" option, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be available.

And I find the first couple options absurd, especially the notion that LBJ had something to do with it.

No (sane).  As flawed as the Warren Commission was, I think they reached the right conclusion.

However, I'm willing to accept that somebody did act behind the scenes with Oswald, though not anybody in the government.

Probably.

One should always assume that his or her government is up to far worse stuff than they admit, after all.

Then you've (unsurprisingly) not understood the definition of "conspiracy".

Option 2 is the closest one to accuracy. Not sure where the oilmen come into play.
