I'd like to hear people's reasons for supporting the slave power.

I obviously love Texas, because it's the greatest state in the union, but the reasons for the revolution were awful and normal, non-racist people should obviously support Mexico.

That's one of those rationalizations, for lack of a better word, that actually sounds worse than just saying you'd support Texas and refusing to elaborate.

Mexican's were both anti-slavery and less homophobic, so guess.

Worth pointing out that Mexico at the time was a collapsing kleptocracy and Texas was just a successful one of several Mexican states, including the Yucatan and the Rio Grande region, that tried to break away from Santa Anna's grip.  The context is pretty important...Mexico came damned close to totally collapsing because the central government, which had overthrown the liberal constitution of 1824, was so widely loathed.

I don't have a lot of sympathy for the Texas settlers, but siding with Santa Anna, an incompetent tyrant who drove half of Mexico into open revolt over his authoritarian disregard for democratic principles, isn't exactly a consistent position for people who are obsessed with elections and democratic process.

Mexico, considering the reasons Texas wanted independence.

Also, what The Mikado said. Though I am not too sure we can say the Texans were the lesser of the evils in this case since their victory was a victory for slaveholders, and would lead to the Mexican-American War a decade later. Who is to say the U.S. wouldn't try and take the southwest from Mexico at some point anyways, sure, but certainly in our own real timeline the Texan victory and eventual annexation ended up being the cause of our theft of half of Mexico.

Though both sides were clearly awful I'd rather the incompetent side win than the pro-slavery side.
