On net, Horrible Show. Think about it. It had 8-9 great seasons and now well over that of unwatchable garbage.

I actually think I have to agree that the crappiness of the bulk of the show ultimately outweighs the genius of the early seasons. Horrible Show on balance.

Massively Freedom Show, specifically because BTuRD doesn't like it.

Ignored it for at least five years now, and thought the long-awaited film (first heard about it in 2001, ffs) was crap - like a contemporary episode dragged out. But still it ranks - and I think it will always - as one of my all-time favourites for the sheer quality of the first dozen series. As I say though, they seriously need to call it a day.

I watch it sometimes, but not for its 'comedic value.'  I don't consider it funny at all, and half the time I don't think Groening even tries to be funny with his shows.  I pretty much only watch it for the storylines.

Movies that are based on TV shows, especially cartoon shows, usually suck, don't they?

Easily among the biggest FS's ever as long as you disregard anything after season 10-ish.

I am starting to fear that the same will be said about Family Guy in a few seasons.

Family Guy passed that point a long time ago.

It has, but I hold out hope that it can be redeemed. Knowing Seth McD-bag, it will likely remain the same.

Probably still FS, even if it's been crap for like 15 seasons.

The first 8 or so was world-class, it just went for far longer than TV shows should.

FS, even if the last 10-15 years weren't as good as the Golden Years (Seasons 1-8 or 9, I own 1-8 on DVD). You really can tell the difference between an episode made today and one made 20 years, they were just so much better back then.

Indeed, I was obsessed with The Simpsons when I was 12-14 years old, and every episode, regardless of quality, I HAD to watch. Now, I largely stick to my DVDs of the Golden Years, although I will watch the odd newer episode when I catch one, enjoyed the movie, and WILL be tuning in for the finale, whenever that is.

Family Guy never got as bad as The Simpsons...or even bad at all. It's also on net the far superior show as it has no bad seasons and still keeps making great ones.

Idk about that. It hit a bad stretch about five years ago before recovering.

I'm probably in the minority of those who think the newer seasons are ten times better than the first several ones.

The only Family Guy episode I hated was Not All Dogs Go To Heaven.

But early Family Guy seasons don't have anything approaching Sneakers O'Toole. For that matter neither does even classic Simpsons.

Family Guy at its best isn't even in same ballpark as The Simpsons at its best. No comparison.

The Simpsons is still a FS to me. I just ignore the post-90s episodes. The death of Maude Flanders is a pretty good jumping off point.

Have spent the last decade ignoring it.

Which doesn't mean I can't recite large parts of the episodes from Seasons 2-9 (it became unwatchable after 11 or so).

Regardless of its lesser quality now, I'll still be very sad when it finnaly cancels.

Disturbs me how often I feel commonality with posts sporting an Abbott signature, even if it is only on cultural matters. Wink
