I'm too drunk to even care about bushie failing his second lesson.

I didn't exactly fail, just did poorly.  I only averaged 70 on it.  That's a C-, but its nowhere near what I wanted, but it is an eye opener to SLOW DOWN!! I want to get an 85% on it at some point to be able to close the chapter on it to make sure I get the information down, so I hope to take it again Monday with no grade recorded.

What do you mean by "I only averaged 70 on it"?  It was one test, right, so what's the average for?  Didn't you say a few days ago that passing is 85% and above, so wouldn't 70% be failing (even if it's technically a C-)?  When I was in undergrad, there were certain classes we couldn't get below a C in; is this class similar to that?

Each test has two attempts to score above 85% (the lowest possible passing is technically 88% since there are 25 questions worth 4 points each.)  My first attempts was 68, and my second attempt 72, averaging to a 70.  Yes, as far as the grading criteria it is failing, but as far as the traditional scale goes (where passing is 60+), I did not fail.  It was low and not passing, but it wasn't too low.  Average that with my 90 average on the first exam and I'm still at an 80% for the LAP test portion of the grade.  Let's be fair here, the other two who have attempted the second test also failed both attempts the same or slightly better than I did.  I'm far from alone here.  It took everyone by surprise.  The other two all day students are still just approaching the first exam.  The LAP tests are just one part of the grade - 25%.  For the class, I have to pass with a 60.  For the LAP tests, I cannot move on until I get an 85%.  I should not have moved on to LAP 3, yet, but the instructor is still trying to figure out how to reset the attempts so I can try a 3rd time to get 85.  He let me go ahead and start on LAP 3 while he's figuring that out so as not to waste my time.  At some point, presumably Monday, I will have to back in and attempt to get an 85.  The score on the third and subsequent attempts do not factor into the overall grade, though, just the first two attempts.  Of course, if you get above an 85 on the first attempt, there is no need to take it the second time.

I love how he conveniently forgot to mention that he failed his initial attempt at the first test when he brought it up last time. Classic Bushie!

Come on, man... you're being overly harsh on him.  I'm sure he just momentarily forgot that he failed the first test.  Everybody forgets things, right?  That's perfectly normal, right?

It was painful knowing that I failed it by 1 point!!! I got an 84 instead of an 85.  The second attempt made up for it with a 96 (which should have been a 100, if not for a brain blank on the very last question).  Technically, the first attempt was failing, but I did pass the test.

At the point that you take a test twice (and I'm assuming it tells you which ones you got wrong), there's basically no reason other than a poorly worded question that you shouldn't get a 100%.

I'll predict that he fails at least the first two attempts of every test from here on out. It's going to get harder and harder I'm sure. I don't think CADD is going to work for Jeff.

It was a poorly worded question on the first exam.  Even the instructor was like "wth?".  There are one or two questions on the second test he's going to give to us as freebies due to the question being so poorly worded and the answers being incorrect.  That may bump my average up into the mid 70's.  There is even one question that both the True and False answers are graded incorrect...  I tried both of them on the two attempts,

It does tell you which ones you got wrong, but it doesn't tell you what the right answer is.  You can try to jot down the questions you got wrong so you can watch for them the next attempt, but the review times out on you after a few minutes, so you don't even get to see all the questions.  I'll say this and the instructor completely agrees - the testing and grading software we have to use SUCK!!

I am not throwing in the towel, yet!  Like King and I alluded to earlier, if I don't finish this CADD and do something with it, I'm as good as dead!

Bushie have you been telling your parents about your grades since they're paying for all of this? Also, if you are telling them, are you telling them the real grades or made up ones?

Of course you shouldn't throw in the towel yet.  I don't think CADD is beyond your capabilities.  I think you have the mental capacity to do it.  Now, whether you have the discipline, I don't know.  You need to stop acting like this is a race and slow down and learn the stuff.

And I disagree that if you don't finish this, you're as good as dead.  You've hopped jobs for decades now, one more lost opportunity shouldn't mean you quit for good.

I am the one paying for this class, this is going on my student loan debt to be paid off, and its coming out of my future money.  Still, though, I am honest with my grades to my parents because they are paying for everything else, including the computer, then I have to be honest.  I owe it to them.  In that instance, it is crucial for me to finish this CADD.  All is not lost if I don't as Inks so correctly pointed out.  I can always go back to the call center, which I have no plan on doing at this point.

I'm probably going to go to bed around 2300 tonight, which is about 45 minutes away.  School Night #6 is just 16 hours away at 1415 Sunday afternoon.  That's the time I get out of school everyday, so that's when the school night begins.

They just said slow down and you'll get it next time.  They shrugged it off, because they know it's going to be a difficult class.  They chalked it up to discovering what pace I need to go that best suits me.

But is this future money going to be existent any time soon?  Your credit already has to be pretty terrible.  You have unsubsidized loans for school, at best, or private loans, at worst.  Plus you have a bunch of credit card debt.  Will you make enough after you finish to even pay all this off?

So what if he got an 84 on his first attempt and needed to get an 85 to pass? He ended up learning the stuff and doing well. Surely we can pull back from policing his truthfulness here Inks?

That's not true. You're assuming it's multiple choice and they're giving you the answers. I'm in school, and sometimes the exams require you to apply a formula and they change the values each time.

It's like you're happy he's not getting a 100 and cheering on failure. Don't you want him to do well at this, maybe? And perhaps we can stop harping on whether he has told his parents about his subscriptions, too, maybe?

This money will exist once I get a job around June 1, 2014.  My credit is already bad because of the short sale (which, again, won't be extremely bad).  I am working to become debt free and even with this $3,000 addition to my student loan, I should be debt free sometime in 2016.  I am not that far in debt, and three years is not long at all.  It's one of the reasons I am waiting to go to Kenya.

Brittain, thank you, friend.  As far as the test goes, it is multiple choice/true false, and while they show which ones you got wrong, it doesn't show you the correct answer.  Obviously, if you get a true false question wrong, the correct answer is clear, but not so with the multiple choice which has 4 choices.

So, how long until his next call center job? Quite a few variables at play, but that's obviously the road we're taking. Same as it ever was.

He's just trying to fly through his lessons instead of absorbing it. He needs to focus and slow down. It's not good that he's failed to reach 85 3/4 tests. He's more focused on being "ahead" in his lessons. I don't want to see him fail out even though I don't foresee him actually getting CAD certified.

I have already slowed down.  I am going much slower in the third LAP to make sure I absorb everything.  I may bring the book home this week and re-read the second LAP, the one I did so poorly on, to make sure I at least know the material.  However, as Brittain said, why are you dogging me for failing three out of the four times.  The last two times I can see, but the first time, at least I learned the information and passed it with flying colors (96) the second time.
