Probably MSNBC, though they don't openly lie nearly as much. Both networks, of course, are tools of the bourgeois establishment.

That post came closer to the truth than any other post in that thread so far. Of course that's a complement on the level if saying that one is healthier than the Bushie family.

This is an improvement, he didn't murder anyone this time.

I'm not aware that krazen had ever killed anyone, so how can you call this an improvement?

I think he means Zimmerman.

Zimmerman did not murder anyone, either.

There Obama goes again. He listens to his wife when it comes to foreign matters instead of his advisers and cabinet members. Maybe he changed his mind because he's talked to Bill Ayers lately?

Petition to rename this thread after Snowstalker.

Certainly more fascinating (and probably more tragic overall) than the circlejerk Americans are having today.

Okay, maybe I was a bit insensitive, but the way Americans treat 9/11 (and not even getting into the way it drastically shifted American attitudes for the worse on  the security state/a general arrogant sense of cultural superiority/treating 9/11 as a foreign policy blank check for Iraq) is something I find annoying. Of course, plenty of other cultures do the same things with historical events relevant to them.

Though I do maintain that Pinochet's dictatorship was a greater tragedy than the attacks themselves (not to denigrate the latter), though perhaps less bad than the political ramifications of 9/11.

I'm pretty sure that the Pinochet regime has caused more than 3000 deaths.

Yeah, I'm still debating whether I should rename this thread after barfbag or Snowstalker.

Here's a post about Chile that actually deserves to be here:

Wow, I actually had no idea that the anniversary of this horrible event was today as well, though I guess my thoughts have understandably been on another matter. Certainly an example of imperialistic US foreign policy worth remembering.

How so?  The CIA wasn't really involved in the coup.

Nixon did something awful forty years ago. Nobody cares anymore. In forty years, nobody will care about 9/11.

It's foreign, therefore more important to intellectuals like Snowstalker.

Am I the only one who do the responsible thing if I caught HIV/AIDS?

Kill yourself (and the person who gave it to you). It's what any decent person would do.

A Russian pessimist is one who will condemn a policeman for murdering a peasant and then prove from the very highest philosophical principles that the peasant should have killed himself.

I tend to think it goes too far, to be honest.

Also, I'm not positive that the line we've drawn in terms of these things is entirely devoid of problems. Most of the predators on the show are preying on what they think are very young girls, but, legally, preying on a 15-year-old boy is just as taboo. I get why it's taboo, but at the same time, I also know that I w
as once a horny 15-year-old. Would my hands be completely clean in the matter if I had ever agreed to some sort of meet? I'm not so sure. It's tricky business.

Regardless, this is a show that really oversimplifies the issue at hand. Maybe my opinion is a controversial one... I don't know. But something about the show almost feels as bad as what it's trying to fight.

Eh, that's technically true and not exactly absurd, ignorant or bad. The CIA didn't really have any direct involvement in the coup aside from perhaps learning about it beforehand and not bothering to do anything about it. Plenty of anti-Allende propaganda and campaigns before the election and the coup yeah, but not much with the actual coup, which would've happened with or without CIA approval. It certainly wasn't like Iran or Guatemala. Of course the US's friendly policy toward the Pinochet regime afterwards is most certainly something that no excuses can be made for.

I'm still kind of reeling from this, honestly, and come to think of it, following the link back to the thread because I guess I'm a masochist or something, a little confused as to why the responses to it were deleted but it itself wasn't. If there was ever a post that makes the Forum as a whole look worse for having it...

Whenever I turn over the phrase 'liberal eugenicist' in my head I initially think that it seems more appropriate to use in some sort of ill-advised 'setting update' of That Hideous Strength or something than in real life that real people have to live in or on the real internet that real people use, but then remember certain facts about the real world and the nature and history of ideas within it that make me very distraught.

Back in form:

If America is spelled R-U-S-S-I-A.  Putin is the winner.

How? The threat of US intervention is what put this all into action.

Russia has entered into the conflict and emerged as the probable strongman.  Obama's mishandling of this opened the door to this.

Roll Eyes

You'd probably think Chamberlain won at Munich.  Roll Eyes

Ah, good to know that JJ is as laughably bad at international politics analysis as he is with domestic politics.

Was that a victory parade they had in Benghazi a year and a day ago?

one of my theories is that the dems will turn more into the Al Sharpton party which will cause a lot of white liberal defections to the GOP. So the dems then become a patronage-ridden race hustling party while the republicans become the white liberal party. You already see this type of stuff happening in New York to some extent.
