The kiddie pool is not exercise.

It's not the kiddie pool, lol.  It is the full size in ground adult pool.  Swimming is exercise.

Gliding isn't.

It's better than just sitting on my hiney in the lawn chair beside the pool, no?

Yes, but it's worse than going for a walk.

I won't deny that.  If it helps in any way, its a good thing.  As long as I don't come out of the pool toasted, I'll be fine. Tongue

Even if you cant swim, you can float on your back and move yourself forward by pushing your arms in and out. Anybody can do that and its a lot more active.

Bushie is frightened by chicken sandwiches.  I doubt he can trust he won't drown if he were to lean back in a pool.

I think we just want you to decide on something and stick with it. I still think you will die young if you continue to live near your parents, so 3 hours away from them is better than being in the same town.

I agree, to be honest.  I'll live with them for one more year, mainly to save money and pay down my bills, and then about late April, I will start looking for a job in Fort Worth.  My first attempt will be with the BNSF Railroad.

I've done some Google Searches and Fort Worth is just oozing with CAD jobs.  They are everywhere, and even more numerous in Dallas.  In July, after I get back from Africa, I am going to sit down with the counselor at the vo-tech and ask what they offer for career placement and what I should look for.  Then, my parents and I have already agreed that since I will have 2 weeks off for Fall Break in October, 2 weeks off for Christmas in December, and 2 weeks off for Spring Break in March, I will take a drive down to Fort Worth during each break, maybe get a hotel room, and scope things out such as places for employment, temp agencies, churches, banks, grocery stores, apartments, etc.  I could and will look all of them up online and even where they're at in Fort Worth, but I also want to get used to the Fort Worth traffic as well as get used to being in a bigger city than Oklahoma City.

You know, there comes a time in your life where YOU need to make your own decisions. Not you and your parents. I have grown so tired of you using "we" and "my parents and I" when discussing your future. This is your life, your future. They are not going to live it for you. Those dreams, those aspirations, you will never get there if you're constantly having your parents dictate the terms of your life to you.

You're 31 years old! You're a grown man! Start acting like it.

Very good point, Duke.  It is my decision, ultimately, to go to Fort Worth.  It is my decision to take periodic trips to Fort Worth this fall, winter, and spring.  It is my decision where I will live once I'm down there.  By the time I go, I will be 32 years old, it is my decision.

Is this better wording, Duke?  Copied from my Facebook.

Alright, so I know I will end up in Kenya at some point, very likely before the end of this decade. Now, what to do before that. The Peace Corps may be a unrealistic goal at this point. Maisha won't be ready for me by 2014, and likely won't until 2018-2019. In 362 days from now, Friday, May 30, 2014, I will have my certificate in CAD. So, I'm thinking about getting a regular American job with the CAD certificate. I'm seriously looking into getting a job in Fort Worth, Texas after I get my certificate. I need a job that is away from my parents, but still close enough that I can tend to situations up here, as well.

If I Were you, I would do my best to establish myself in the US right now if you do not intend to leave for Kenya now. Get independent, find a wife who shares your passion for Kenya and go together one day. Or go now. If you're going to spend money on a CAD certificate, you want to make the money worth it. Why do it if you're just going to go to Kenya and plant churches in 3 years time?

I definitely want to give it at least 4-6 years.  The earliest I would go to Kenya is 2018, maybe 2019 or 2020.  Like you said, though, I'm going to focus initially on getting myself established State side, first.  I have long term goals and Kenya is definitely in my 10 year plan.  I want to go to Fort Worth because I kind of feel an obligation to my parents to work at least 4-5 years with that certificate before I go off to missions.  The certificate will only cost $2,250, but it's not just that, but all the other help I've received in the past 373 months.

Don't you agree though this plan sounds a lot more realistic given my current situation?

I wish I had, now, but its too late.  If I keep looking in the rear view mirror, I'm going to hit a tree or the ditch or the car in front of me.

If Bushie is going to be working for a railroad, I'd prefer it be one that doesn't go through my hometown. Cause a train wreck in somebody else's backyard, please.

My mother was in favor of Kenya, and still is.  Dad doesn't know anything about that, yet.

Your father still doesn't know you plan to move to Kenya?  Why not?

The earliest I would go to Kenya is 2018, maybe 2019 or 2020.

We're now out to 2018-2020?  This is like the engagement dates in reverse!  Any wagers as to how long it'll be until it's pushed out to 2025?

Wasn't Kenya supposed to be a for-sure thing by 2015?

Well, getting the CAD makes some kind of development work in Kenya (=actually contributing) much more realistic and therefore also doing something for the kids. Perhaps living nearby and visiting on a regular basis.

Anyway, Jeff now has some elements that can be combined into a workable long term plan. Whether he will be able to do it is of course an other matter. But I think you should at least give him credit for coming up with a realistic plan that would eliminate one of his biggest obstacles - not being eligible for a decent job.

It was initially, but then after talking to the Maisha Director earlier in May, she told me the volunteer homes won't be ready until probably 2018.  There is a slight chance it may be completed in mid to late 2017, but more likely 2018.  The volunteer homes are about the fourth or fifth item on the priority list and it seems that each item takes approximately 9-12 months.

Why would walking in Wal-Mart 'not count'?  Waling has to be outdoors?  Or is shambling or ambling or whatever not a smart enough pace to infibrillate the heart or whatever it is you need to do?

I know I always get terribly exhausted if I go inside a WalMart (particularly with mom as BushOK is doing it).

I'm having Bushie apologist thoughts today. Perhaps we should ask ourselves how we can better motivate him if we want him to succeed. Did he ever get the Biggest Loser video game?

His parents have an interesting marriage. His mom has all these secrets that Bushie has told her and his dad has no idea, plus they sleep in separate bedrooms. I feel bad for papa Bushie. It's like he's only working to provide for the family but knows nothing about anyone in it.

I'm actually really confused about the whole "Pappy Bushie doesn't know that Bushie wants to move to Kenya for good" thing.  Didn't Bushie say several times over "My parents and I have a well thought out plan, and we are executing it?"  This is a plan about Bushie's education and employment for pete's sake.  Pappy is in on the development of the plan, yet doesn't know that Bushie's long term plans include a permanent move to Kenya?  Would Pappy have signed off on the Bushie education and work plan, as well as the funding of Bushie's current lifestyle if he knew that Bushie intended to do this?  Will Morden continue to refer to Bushie's father as "Pappy", and will he continue to refer to himself in the third person?  Will Morden ask any more rhetorical questions, or is this the last one?
