Yeah it doesn't matter if it had a shell or Doritos. Who cares?

And beans and cornbread. That country cooking! You're dead in the water. Tongue

If I'm fortunate, the beans will keep me behind closed doors for a while tonight...

Taco salad is just as bad for you as anything else. It's full of cheese, sour cream, beans, hamburger meat, taco shell, and whatever else on it. It's not really a salad at all.

And you ordered two? You likely ate 2000 calories plus for dinner.

And you're still drinking regular soda....

My mother made the Taco Salad, and it just had hamburger meat, a little shredded cheese, lettuce, ranch style beans, catalina dressing, and doritos.  No sour cream or shell.  It was just in a regular glass bowl.

You saw the nutrition info......just agree it was bad and move on

Yep

The real problem is, Bushie knows nothing about nutrition. Neither does his family. He's yet to eat anything of real substance since we started critiquing his diet. This isn't just a problem that goes away, which is why I had little faith that he will lose a substantial amount of weight.

Your diet is as important as exercise.

So much this. Next time he goes to the dietician he should just ask her to give him week's schedule of meals and follow that exactly.

My mind is still blown by the 100% pointless and wasteful Alva trip. Bushie, at least admit that you wanted to get away from your parents for a while. You could have found out that info on the phone in two minutes. Instead you used their money to pay for a room for the night and spent god knows how much on gas, fast food and porn...

What part of wanting to see friends before they leave for 18 months is pointless or a waste of money?  I was already in the area, so it didn't take that much more to stay overnight.

I think the trip was a great idea, Bushie, and am disgusted by the negativity you're met with here.

No way of sugarcoating it.  Real working out involves running, swimming, lifting, etc., etc.
^^^^
As some may be aware from my very poorly executed attempt of an update, I've been trying very hard to get in shape. It's been 5 months now, and I've dropped from 200 to 185. But it sure as hell hasn't been from sloppy joes or leisurely strolls around the block. I go to the gym for about an hour, three or four times a week. Half hour of lifting and half hour of cardio that keeps my heart rate at 150. It's been a lot of pushing myself and sweaty work. Don't kid yourself that it will be easy and that walking for a few minutes while you mainline lard is going to get the job done. It's not.

With gas prices coming back down it may be a little easier to get to the Indian Wellness Center a little more often than just once a month.  I don't know about 3 times a week, but I could probably alternate between walking one day and going to the gym the next.  My dietitian wants me to walk 20 minutes a day for 4 days a week to start.  To me 20 minutes is not enough, so when I do walk, I try to get 30 minutes in.
Alternating days is 3 or 4 times a week. Also, you'll spend a ton of money in gas going to some place 20 miles and back. Depending what kind of car you have, that's about $5 in gas roundtrip each time you go. Just get a gym membership closer to you. Doesn't have to be anywhere fancy. My gym membership costs $15/month.

Do a cost-benefit analysis Bushie.  If it's that difficult to go to the free gym, would it not be beneficial to go to a paid gym?

They aren't that expensive.  Surely nowhere near the cost of stupid hotel trips to Alva.

It's amazing.

It's amazing that they even think they need to THINK this hard about it.  Why couldn't the beans and cornbread have some sort of fruit or vegetable with it?  Broccolli... bell peppers... anything.

Are you telling me that if you had best friends who were about ready to go overseas that they told you specifically they wouldn't be back for 18, possibly 24 or 30 months you wouldn't spend the gas to go up and see them one last time, even if its 2 hours away, especially if its unclear that you yourself would be in America when they get back?

Your friends' party was in Enid.  Google Maps says Enid is 1.5 hours away from where you live.  You say it ended at 9 p.m., even if it ended at 10, 11, 12, you could have driven back home and arrived back at your house in time to go back to bed and call NWOSU in the morning with your simple question.  In fact, it would be have been the same drive from Enid back home as it was Enid to Alva.

You did not need to spend the night anywhere.

I'll admit that the trip to Alva was a waste, but it wasn't a complete waste.  I had to see my friends.

Going to be a"Bushie apologist" here and say that if having a bit of time to himself away from it all helped Jeff reach a decision it was worth the money (no matter who paid).

How much has your weight changed in the last 18 months?

I've lost 16 pounds in the past 18 months.  If people remember, I peaked at 285 in late 2011, and then lost 25 pounds through mid-February 2012, but then slowly gained 15 pounds over the 15 months before losing 6 again.

Didn't you tell us 275 was your peak? The numbers are changing yet again.

The peak in the past few months has been 275.  Go back to previous seasons of the Update and you'll probably find my highest peak was 285.  I think its the end of the season right before Kenya was introduced.

Again, calling it "seasons" shows that you don't take this seriously.  It's your very life (and the lives of others) that you're destroying... why that should be taken lightly doesn't really make sense to me.

Honest question.  What do you guys think about Taco Salad for dinner as far as its nutritional benefits?  I had two bowls of it last night.

I didn't realize that "Taco Salad" is now a name brand.

Bushie, do you use myfitnesspal? You can track the nutrients you eat daily. I use it, albeit sparingly sometimes. You can get it on your phone and add me up. It will tell you what you're eating and if it's worth anything.

Hey I said the exact same thing a few posts above (and consistently support you against your naysayers), and I never get any 'thank you friend'.

So why don't you start subsidizing Bushie's trips if you think they're great?  If you support his lifestyle, why don't you send him money, so that his poor trailer-home family doesn't have to support his habits?  Put your money where your mouth is, opebo!

I've precisely none to spare, Inks, but then again I didn't breed in the face of capitalist oppression.

I do use MyFitnessPal.  My Dietitian showed it to me.  I use it every day.  Right now, my calorie goal on there is 2200.
