I do think that she will keep this to about a 5 point race, since she is only under preforming by three percent for a win

71% is in and he's still "soaring" at 54% Tongue

But by going county by county, she right now is under preforming what Daily Kos said she would have to do in order to win.

ECB Benchmark- ECB Actual
Beaufort: 49/50- 47/53
Berkeley: 47/51- 39/60
Charleston: 53/46- 49/50
Colleton: 35/65- 30/70
Dorchester: 49/49- 39/60

She's at 50. Sanford has 41, Platt 3. All are mentioned by name, though, so Platt's score may decrease. Most of Platt's voters voted Romney! Colbert-Busch is at 56-31, Sanford at 38-56.

What can I say.

I don't know how I would've voted if I lived in that district.    I might would've just stayed home.  Squinting  But, in all honesty, I think he'll be better than Busch.   Truth is, he'll likely be challenged heavily in the primaries.

Basically this, he's not going to make it past one or two terms without a primary challenge that vanquishes him for good.

Did the voters in part not consider Colbert a serious candidate, as opposed to some lady coat tailing off her brother's celebrity?  She seemed kind of "light" on the issues - not as light as Palin of course, the hydrogen lady, but Colbert might have been viewed as the helium candidate, while the voters want an oxygen candidate at least.

I really think she will get about 47-48%.  Even with those numbers.

What do you mean by "light?"  Ignorant?  I certainly didn't see that.

Krazen wouldn't be quoting posts, or even posting at all tonight, if Sanford lost.

In kindergarden, he must have missed the day when they talked about winning and losing graciously.

I'll go my traditionally super pessimistic route and say Sanford wins this comfortably with 55%ish.

Good call!

I'll always assume the worst of humanity when South Carolina and/or Republicans are involved, Krazy.

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/05/sanford-colbert-busch-election-results-91039.html?hp=t1_3

I guess SC-1 voters' hatred of Barack Obama and all things Democratic trumped their desire to have a decent, honest person representing them.

Well, to be fair decent and honest people aren't exactly representative of South Carolina.

The Pelosi lines seemed to get a lot of annoyed faces and boos at the Debate, but that strategy seemed to work very well. I mean, the only reason Busch was going to get voted in was if the campaign completely focused on Sanford's scandal, and Sanford did a good thing by nationalizing the race. I'm a little surprised he didn't do this earlier in the campaign.

You know you're in a good position when krazen is desperately arguing for the validity of a tied poll.

Nope.
Considering this was an R +11 district, this was a pretty good result for Dems. Wink

Having him on ignore for this is a somewhat surreal experience. Has he used 'dominating' yet?

98% REPORTING

Colbert Busch
45.3%
63,660

Sanford
54.2%
76,183

He right now leads with 8.9%.  Still under 10%, not to bad for south Carolina.

Always love it when people complain about Krazen but, as Miles seems to be intent on doing, respond to EVERY SINGLE THING the guy posts. Bravo.

So far just "soaring" and "landslide".
