As mentioned elsewhere, I saw a guy at work doing so yesterday, and considering that every female there also raved about how cute it was, I think I see why he did. And then later some other guy drew a Pokeball on some crumpled paper and threw it at him.

If it was universally recognized as a symbol of the popular revolution, then yes.

No - that article of clothing in question is braving a perilous no-man's land betwixt the safe realm of conventional attire and fursuit territory.

As a compromise however I would wear a modified ushanka in the likeness of a Raichu.

well, not out in public.  I'd wear pretty much anything if I thought I could get a laugh out of it.

Situationally. I wouldn't do it in normal situations, but if I was at a convention or something like that where other people are in costume I wouldn't mind doing it.

Nah, I'm not really into Pokémon.

Even if I were, that thing is a bit … obnoxious.

Pretty sure you'd quickly get your a$$ kicked for wearing that in Memphis. Even if you're a girl.

Well it's an adult-sized hoodie....

Memphis sounds pretty awful if this is true.

We do have several SciFi/Fantasy/whatever Cons every year where it would not be abnormal at all. I wouldn't recommend walking down the street in one though. Not that people walk down the street much anyway.

One of the two main ghettos in Minneapolis is between me and Target, so I go through there all the time. There's always people on the street and having fun. People in Memphis are either wusses or it's just awful overall.

I think the concept works a lot better with "cute" (but not necessarily "hot") girls than it does with guys.

Memphis is just not very walkable. You invariably need a car to get from here to there. I do walk every now and then but it's just for recreation. I find it relaxing and often can't sit still. You do see poors, usually but not always blacks, waiting for a bus on a major street. But they're a tough crowd and I guarantee you they are not going to be wearing a Pokeman hoodie.

Your winters and our summers cancel each other out. Both are intolerable. More to the point, Minneapolis has about 7k people/sq mi. Memphis has about 2k people/sq  mi. That makes a difference.
