Not a bad choice. Another fattie! Christie wasn't expecting that, heh.

And this is the first Presidential Election with only Governors running in a while, isn't it?

Well, with mostly gubernatioral experience, yes. Schweitzer is the Senator from Montana, but only since 2014.

Yeah, I remembered that just after I posted. Then I forgot to modify it hahaha..

Republican Convention Coming...

Christie trips at rally, breaks stage

"I know a lot of people are going to laugh about it at my expense, but I think that's fine. I've always had a problem with my weight, I've tried, but it doesn't seem to work. I like what I like, its what I do. I will pay for the stage out of my funds, if that's what you were asking, but further prodding on this issue would be rather useless to the discussion of the issues."

Schweitzer bringing large crowds in Ohio!

"I will say that Chris Christie is a good man. I mean, he's a good family man, interesting guy to talk to. But he is not the man to be running this country. He over-exaggerates his performance in New Jersey. He tells it like he walked on water, when really it was more like picking up a rock and throwing it. His accomplishments merely rode the back of the Obama recovery, and what we need to do is not go back to the Bush-era policies but to continue this great recovery!"

Krolicki challenges Senator Reid to a debate

Nevada Poll:
Lieutenant Governor Brian Krolicki: 50%
Incumbent Senator Harry Reid: 47%
Undecided: 3%

Rubio campaign crumbling at the seems, but numbers don't drop to disaster Rich campaign

Florida Senate Poll:
Incumbent Senator Marco Rubio: 36%
State Senator Nann Rich: 33%
Independent Bud Chiles: 24%
Undecided: 7%

Republican National Convention

First Night

"The Obama administration has been a drastic failure on improving the economy and on the intervention of Government into private life and private business. What does the Patrick insist on doing? MORE OF THE SAME! Ladies and gentleman, we can not, and will not, have more of the same, and that is why we need to elect Governor Christie and Sandoval to be the team of a lifetime!"

"Folks, you may not be too surprised to hear me say this, but Obamacare is STILL unconstitutional!"

"I am proud to fight for a ticket that, while I don't agree with them on everything, I do agree with them on the basic premise that we just need more freedom, and thats what Patrick/Schweitzer certainly doesn't have to offer. As a Governor, I am fully appreciative of the need for executive experience in the Presidency, and that's what Christie/Sandoval bring!"

"This is one of the most visionary tickets I have seen in modern times, and I believe they will bring us to a new era of economic prosperity. As the new Republican party, we have to push boundaries, think out loud, and make changes so that freedom and individualism isn't crushed by government, but is allowed to prosper."

The first night was largely seen as a rally ground for candidates in the general election to tout their own skills while talking mainly about the nominee. They learned from the mistakes of the Romney 2012 RNC, and did a lot more checking on the speeches before they went out. The keynote speech, Susana Martinez, was widely praised, and she is, to many, considered presidential material in 2024. Ultimately it was a strong night and a strong note to begin the real Presidential campaign.

For one, interesting that you switched parties.

How HAS Obama's economy been in this TL? If you posted a backstory, I missed it. Otherwise, this is pretty awesome! Can't wait for Christie's acceptance speech.

I need to do that... Unemployment has been continually moving slowly. Right now its at 7.0%, with the deficit nearing 20 trillion, and while some are saying the deficits have started to slow down a bit (It's 1.2 Trillion now, going down to around 900 Billion) fact is that things really aren't moving too quickly in the new direction. We didn't default on our debt because Republicans agreed to raise the debt ceiling if Democrats agreed to allowing the sequester to go through. McCain, Graham, and Ayotte voted against the deal, as did Chuck Schumer, and several of the Southern, more neo-conish Democrats, but for the most part, the deal flew through the congress. Since then there hasn't been quite as many huge ordeals, but things are too slow for Obama to ever get out of the 50-55% approval crevice.

The Rest of the Republican Convention!

"Prosperity and freedom has been savaged under this administration, and we continue to hemmorage in debt and we can't take it anymore. No more Obama, no more Patricks, we need change, and Governor Chris Christie will take us to a new era of prosperity!"

"Chris Christie is a conservative, but he also has the wonderful ability to speak out. He's his own person, and as a conservative, I respect his commanding ability to lead in New Jersey, and I have a deep trust in his ability to govern the nation."

"We want a fair tax code, we want a stronger military, and we want a strengthened America and only one ticket offers that, and folks, that's Christie/Sandoval!"

"I am not willing to let more and more government intrusion of our lives go on. It's time for change. A fundamental change in the way we think about government, how we think about spending, and how we think about debt, and my partner Chris Christie has a beautiful vision of America that I also share."

"And now to introduce my husband, the next President of the Untied States... Chris Christie!"

"I accept my parties nomination, after a lifetime of trying to fight for whats right and demand for common sense, I believe our nation now is ready for our message."

The Republican National Convention this year seemed to learn from a lot of the text book mistakes of 2012. Many of the nominees had their speeches checked, and went out their to fight for Chris Christie the nominee. They got a five point bump.

National Poll:
Chris Christie/Brian Sandoval: 52% (+3)
Deval Patrick/Brian Schweitzer: 46% (-2)
Undecided: 2%

Democratic National Convention Pt.1

"I served as the Chief of Staff under President Obama. I have a deep respect for the President, and I love what he's done for this country. We were in the abyss and then he turned us around into a new era of Prosperity. Don't let Christie and Sandoval take us back to the dark days of Bush!"

"FORWARD, NOT BACK!"

"The Party of No continues to their proud tradition of moderating for a general election after being 'severely conservative' in the primary, lets tell them their ideas are wrong for the country as they already seem to know!"

"What we are is the big tent party. I know because I was a former Republican, who embraced big ideas and methods to put the people first. The Republican party has become the party of extremism and ideology over smarts and thinking, and I think this will doom them to the oblivion! Patrick/Schweitzer is a team for the generations, continuing the achievements of Barack Obama and then some!"

There were a couple of stand out speeches on the first night, but what was ultimately there was a slug: slow and crawling, generally not exciting to most of the viewers. Governor Lincoln Chafee stood out as did Congressman Peter DeFazio. O'Malley stood out too, but not in a good way. Either way, its going to have to be the next few nights that will define this convention, not now.

The Rest of the DNC!

"What these candidates are merely the same old GOP with a new bluster. We can't go back!"

"The strength and conviction of President Barack Obama is in the heart of both Schweitzer and Patrick, and folks, we can do even more in this new administration than we did in the last administration!"

"As Governor, Deval Patrick and I both turned around our states and made them better, brilliant records when the other two Governors have had records of failure. In Nevada, they had the highest rate of unemployment in the nation! We don't want to go there!"

"We've turned the worst foreign policy into the best foreign policy and we intend to continue the right foreign policy ideas of the Obama administration instead of the wrong ideas of Christie-Romney-McCain-Bush!"

A lot of commentators said that the DNC was strong, but not nearly as strong as the DNC of 2012. Most of the polls show a moderate bounce, but not enough to overcome Governor Christie's current lead from the RNC.

National Poll:
Chris Christie/Brian Sandoval: 51% (-1)
Deval Patrick/Brian Schweitzer: 48% (+2)
Undecided: 1%
