FRANCE:

François Hollande

François Gérard Georges Nicolas Hollande (French pronunciation: [fʁɑ̃swa ɔlɑ̃d]; born 12 August 1954) is the 24th President of the French Republic and ex officio Co-Prince of Andorra. He previously served as the First Secretary of the French Socialist Party from 1997 to 2008 and as a Deputy of the National Assembly of France for Corrèze's 1st Constituency from 1988 to 1993 and then again from 1997 to 2012. He also served as the Mayor of Tulle from 2001 to 2008 and the President of the General Council of Corrèze from 2008 to 2012.

He was elected President of France on 6 May 2012, defeating the incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy, and was inaugurated on 15 May.[1] He is the second Socialist President of the Fifth French Republic, after François Mitterrand who served from 1981 to 1995.

Jean-Marc Ayrault

Jean-Marc Ayrault (French pronunciation: [ʒɑ̃.maʁk e.ʁo] ; born 25 January 1950[2]) is the current Prime Minister of France, having been appointed on 15 May 2012. He has also been the Mayor of Nantes since 1989, and has led the French Socialist Party in the National Assembly since 1997.

Following François Hollande's victory in the 2012 presidential election, Ayrault was appointed as Prime Minister of France, replacing François Fillon. The following day, Ayrault unveiled his Cabinet. In response to the Greek government-debt crisis he asked the European Commission to put unused structural funds towards helping the Greek economy return to growth and said "We waited too long before helping Greece. This has been going on for two years now and only gets worse..."[6]

Ayrault's appointment to the country's head of government has prompted discussion within Arabic language mass media as to how to pronounce his surname. When his name is pronounced properly in French, it sounds "very much like a moderately rude Lebanese and Palestinian [slang] term" for a phallus.[7] Al-Arabiya decided to pronounce the name properly and write its Arabic transliteration "in a way that makes clear it is not the offensive word"; CNN Arabic decided to pronounce Ayrault's surname by "voicing the last two letters in the written word."

Disapprove of Hollande, but approve of the PM (really have no opinion, but he needs something to make up for his unfortunate name).

His name only means "dick" in a few Middle-East countries. Ayrault is probably a common name in France though.

Fairly common, yes.

However it's a fun name in France too, for it has the same pronounciation as "héros" (hero).

Approve the new Co-Prince of Andorra (nice country if you are a shopalcoholic) and let´s give a chance to the Mayor of Nantes.

I approve of Hollande, for now, because I'll give him a chance, though I have few illusions about how disappointing his presidency will be. I reluctantly approve of Ayrault, because he's competent, but he still hates freedom.
