No you didn't. As all the most reputable authorities point out, Americans are not capable of understanding notably more complicated than a knock-knock joke. This is an objective and scientific fact and it is an outrage - a genuine and horrific outrage - that you would argue otherwise.

Again, as I've said on several occasions in the past, it's time to retire that word in contexts unrelated to the interwar period.  Hang its jersies up in the stadium for people to look at but not to be worn for future games, so to speak.
