What is not classy about stating the truth?  I'm currently overweight.  It makes life a lot more difficult and greatly affects your health. If Christie doesnt realize he needs to lose weight then he is in some serious denial.

Of course he does, I've even said before that he can't win the nomination if he doesn't do something about it eventually . But since he was just "rushed to the hospital" it seems kind of tacky, whatever. I hate the guy but I won't act like he's not a real human being. Yeah, I see what you are saying.  I didn't look serious in this case but at anytime he could have a massive coronary.

Joking aside, I wish him well. I've warmed up to him and actually like the guy. Hopefully this scare is minor and inspires him to pull a Huckabee. Great way to keep him in the headlines for 2016 as well, if that's his goal.

You know this is such a different era, the 1960's might as well be a century ago in terms of how information gets out and how the media drums on it. FDR's condition would have been issue in all likelihood. Taft was overweight quite substantially. Buchanan was a bachelor and I don't think one could be elected today; at least not under ordinary circumstances.

Once we realize that the myth of progress in the liberal sense is a farce, and that society has at times accepted things that it no longer accepts (actively stepping backward on some issues), it's certainly clear that the electorate may be intolerant of things it previously had not considered.

I was very shaken when I heard the news. I am so glad that America's Governor is doing better. Of course, it comes as no surprise that so many here have remained their classless selfs in the face of a near tragedy.

I would never seriously argue that his weight is healthy. I have simply said in the past (including my point yesterday) that from a cosmetic standpoint, losing weight a lot of weight would be worse. Politicos obsessive over this point that the country would look down on someone that overweight. Sure, losing some weight wouldn't hurt him but being a big guy is now part of his personality. He would be trashed as looking sickly if he lost a ton of weight. Again, I'm simply talking about the cosmetics of the situation. Health-wise, yes, he absolutely should lose weight.

By the way, I don't remember others obsessing over the late Senator Kennedy's weight.  Roll Eyes

I'd say he is right around and even heavier than Taft at his heaviest and Taft probably had a few inches of height on him+was an athlete.   This isn't political.  The man has 4 kids and really needs to make sure he is around for them.
