No which is kind of funny considering how many ignorants think the two genres are the same (even though they sound absolutely nothing alike.) But yeah I have never met anyone who listens to both.

No. I have however met someone who liked both real emo & thrash metal, though she preferred folk rock to either.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who was into "real" emo.

That's odd because I can name some bands from Omaha.

I don't meet people from Omaha that often.  I have a small circle of friends, co-workers and family...mostly older or children.  I'm too old, married and anti-social to go out meeting new people for the hell of it. Smiley

I had an online friend who went from listening to death and black metal (mostly whatever was hot online around 2004, neo-Behemoth, Necrophagist, etc. but also the Norwegian staples) to stuff like Saetia, Orchid, Circle Takes the Square and City of Caterpillar before meeting somewhere in the middle and listening to both. Last time we spoke he was going on about a bunch of new tech death metal albums I promptly forgot the names of. More of a classic Floridian/NYDM kinda guy, personally.

He also showed me Rites of Spring and Husker Du. Rites of Spring I know to be emo and I find them solid.. still listen to them from time to time, but Husker Du is absolutely phenomenal. Definitely one of my favorite bands. I'm not sure where they'd fall on the plot, though.

Heh, that's interesting. For me, it's the other way around; I've never really cared for the traditional American death metal, but technical death metal is one of my favorite things in the world. In fact, I bought my best friend The Conductor's Departure by Anata for his birthday.
