It's not entirely certain that the NPD will actually get in. There's a slight chance (I admit....probably under 10%) that they'll be under 5% when all is said and done.

Erwin Sellering really couldn't ever deny being a Westphalian.

It's not looking good, because in the first ARD projection, the NPD still has 5.5%

I think you can forget red-green. Which is unfortunate, in a way. I'd be pleased to see an East-German state be capable of electing a government only consisting of democratic parties that isn't a grand coalition.

A nice result for my party, we are really building a phalanx of popular state governments in the North.
Sellering won't do Red-Green with a majority of only one seat, while a tame CDU and a relatively moderate Leftist Party with government experience stand aside a (more or less attractive) choices.

The drop of bitterness is the Nazis' result, of course. Not unexpected though.

Some data from the ARD exit poll:

State Government approval: 55-43
Federal Government approval: 25-74

Which coalition-partner would be good for the SPD ?

42% CDU
25% Greens
25% Left

Direct vote for Governor:

74% Sellering (SPD)
14% Caffier (CDU)

The low overall approval of the state government is a little surprising for me.

Hey you got a strong left-wing result. Although I suppose we share our disappointment that Nazis were actually re-elected to parliament.

I´m surprised that the SPD is not around 38% with Sellering's popularity.

Counting the accompanying page for direct votes, leads are 18 SPD - 13 CDU - 1 Left. Obviously, that's just a precinct or two in some cases. No votes recorded yet from the remaining 3 (+ Rügen W).

Cheesy

It is better than the CDU slogan in MPV

("C like Future")
