Meeks and O'Donnell vanquish Mike Castle.  That should be the title of the next Harold and Kumar movie.

A straight-laced and rather dull suburban conservative with a low profile. Meh. His defeat is more interesting that he has been or will ever be.

Of course not. There's nothing to miss about crazy Republicans, even if the party moved so far to the right that they're one of the most moderate.

Still, he's the kind of Republican that I wish there were more of.

You'd have an irrelevant party in that case.

Not if the Democrats actually grew balls and acted as a so-called center-left party should.

A) O'Donnell can still win.

B) What difference does one seat make, anyway? Especially if that seat happened to be occupied by someone who would indubitably vote for most of Obama's agenda.

Well...

Also, I'm glad you support my campaign for Senate.

Yep, all we need is far-ass right and far-ass left.  That's obviously getting us far.  Progress in the 2000s meant not going backwards...thanks to our increasingly extreme bullshit parties.  I can't wait to get nowhere now with our EVEN MORE extreme parties that will just lose one cycle later.

You really think we have "increasingly extreme parties"? It seems to me the two major parties have moved closer and closer together in recent years. Look how little real change we got in the transition from "far-ass right" Bush to "far-ass left" Obama.

Well, there's no doubt both parties are outrageously inept and can't actually enact any of their insanity.  The rhetoric and partisan garbage each side spews has been getting more and more absurd without a doubt.  It would be one thing if they actually gave a crap about what they were saying, but it's just empty, hack trash.  I think the fact that they don't actually have to do jack shit kind of intensifies their nonsense.  It's more made up and radical than ever.  The more pragmatic, realistic, and effective a candidate is, the worse off they are in an overall campaign like this year's.  I mean, just look at the GOP's "rising stars" like Thune and Jindal.  Neither has done anything worthwhile but both have impressive rhetorical resumes that will take them further than anyone who has actually made legitimate strides towards effective government.

opebo keeps pointing this out and we dismiss him but I think it's accurate.

That's not how the joke works.  You're supposed to post an R-CA avatar.

And, I dislike the Republicans as much as I dislike the Democrats, but I love the concept of a divided government.  Really, I'll just be happy if the Republicans take back the House.

At this point I think divided government would be even worse. All this means is the elites will probably push 'austerity' a little ahead of schedule and give Obama an opportunity to present his new nonsensical policies as 'pragmatism' and 'moderation' as opposed to the alternative... Which would further expose the Democratic leadership as the morally and politically bankrupt corporate stooges they are.

Given the way things are, that would be about the stupidest strategy possible.  But a lot of the Obama administration has been about pursuing the stupidest strategy possible, so I can't say I would be surprised.

Yeah. Castle was an absolute tool for voting for the stimulus and for Obamacare, and ...

... wait, what? You mean he didn't?

I didn't say it would go over any better than the countries that's already been tried in. But yes you are correct of course.
