I don't consider myself pro-life or pro-choice (I would like it to be safe, legal, and very rare--but neither side is aiming for that goal); however, I oppose government funding of abortion.

Plus, I like legislators who have principles and balls.

Well I can respect that.

Still I wish you didn't add that parenthetical in though; it seems Democrats are afraid to ever admit if they are pro-life. Sad

There's principled and then there's assinine.  Stupak in this case is assinine.  And I have supported and even gave money to a pro-life Democrat in the past.  And one will probably be in my signature in a second.

Actually Stupak is principled. You can't even spell asinine.

Considering that there never was any federal funding of abortion in the bill to begin with, that doesn't matter.

He made a huge mistake in his judgment, because eventually the agreement he reached will expire.

He knows that. We all know that. He needs to resign, the cowardly bastard.

Freedom Fighter Horrible Person
Unlike many members of Congress, he's actually standing up for his beliefs, and not giving in to his party leaders. With the twist of an arm, he changes.

Additional warning that posts that just say "Roll Eyes" or empty-quote are not productive.  If they continue in this topic I'll have to start deleting more posts.

All of a sudden now empty-quoting is forbidden?

The empty-quoting rule has been in place for a good long while, but it usually only starts becoming a concern (i.e., it's only reported) when it begins to leach the life out of topics.  This is one such case.  Any further questions/comments and you need to PM me or start an Atlas Forum thread or the post will be removed.

FF until he needlessly sidetracked the Healthcare Bill with his shenanigans

HP for the time being. He did eventually vote yes on the bill, so he's not a terrible HP

I would sorta agree with this. Overall still a FF even if he did take horrible actions (that he at least caved on).

Oh, and it's interesting that the pic in your signature, Cubby, was taken in Stupak's (and my) district. Smiley

The guy voted for health care while letting his religious beliefs influence his choice. In the ideal setting this should not happen, but it does anyway.
