Pot dealers. Less assholes, and probably also less likely to physically hurt innocent people too.

Tough, pot dealers are hardly saints. Still, I'll vote pot dealers I suppose.

Most are just lazy stoner guys like James Franco in Pineapple Express or old hippies or Nancy Botwin-types. People who sell just pot are hardly your stereotypical murderous drug lord.

Yeah there's certainly a difference between a pot dealer and a coke dealer.

I hang out with cops and cops in training a lot. I have not generally had good experiences with dealers, with one exception.

No pot dealer has ever pulled me over and harassed me for over a half hour and searched my car despite proof that I was not intoxicated or carrying anything illegal on me for no reason besides lack of anyone else to harass at that hour in that town.

Yeah there's certainly a difference between a pot dealer and a coke dealer.

Only if they're getting high on their own supply.

The real difference is the relative value of these drugs. Would you be more likely to kill someone for robbing you of $400 or $40,000? (Maybe neither; that's not the point. They have their own rules in the drug world)

Also, of course, most weed sold in the US today is domestic, while cocaine has to be imported; so if you sell blow, someone down the line has to be dealing with some Very Bad People at some point, and that culture seems to filter down to some extent. Part of is just "life imitating art imitating life"; the popular image of the "marijuana dealer" is an old burnout with some plants in his garden. The popular image of the "cocaine dealer" is Al Pacino in Scarface. Tongue

anyway, for the poll, pot dealers.

I do have one positive cop story. I was at a strip club and some drunk assholes earlier were outside shooting off fireworks illegally. (This was well after the Fourth of July, and they were shooting the off in the middle of the street.) This town is so small it doesn't even have its own police department, so the county sheriff's department sent two guys in who came in fairly late. Well anyone since the strip club was the closest to the incident, they came inside and took the bartender to question about what went on. I'm at the tip rail, and the stripper is talking about how paranoid she is that she'll do something which technically isn't allowed and get fined. She even put her bottoms back on midway through.

Well then the cops were about to leave, but before going out the door one of them tossed her a five and yelled "take them off again!" She did.

Pales in comparison to the negative stories though...

Cops usually, and I've had plenty of problems with cops in the past. Almost every pot dealer I've bought from or encountered was pretty much a scumbag, whereas I've met some good police officers.

Some of the few ones that I'm cool with as long as they aren't hypocrites busting other dealers. One of my friends in Mankato told me about one that his brother is friends with. If he catches anyone with marijuana he just confiscates and lets them go. Then he sells the pot later on the side. He gets away with it because it's Montana.

That is basically the definition of "asshole."

Pot dealers can be pretty scummy. Cops are completely out of their league though.

I'll go with Pot dealers.

Didn't answer.

But from my experience:

Philly Cops > Pot Dealers

New Jersey State Troopers < Pot Dealers

Cops.  And I am not a big fan.

The only pot dealer I know is my nephew.  He steals from his grandmother and his cousins, drives drunk and refuses to give up his seat for elderly people or pregnant women when there are not others available.  He refuses to finish high school (he's 25) or work because bosses are jerks and teachers "don't know nothin'."

I understand why my sister won't kick him out of her house.  A mother's love and all that.  But the boy and I may have to have a "private discussion" one of these days.

So, while limited, my experience with pot dealers is not good.  Of course, I am not sure he's any kind of serious, big-time dealer.  He's too dumb.

Most pot dealers I've met fall into three categories. The first is perfectly represented by your nephew. The second is made up of upper middle class or wealthy douche-bags, who although they go to college, are just assholes in every way and have the same attitude. Extremely selfish, no respect for women, flashy clothes and cars. Their parents babied them and made them spoiled rotten, and they basically got started stealing from the medicine cabinet, downing cough medicine, and huffing. The third category is made up of your caricature stoner, who basically watches Cheech and Chong, Pineapple Express, Half Baked, and How High and tries to imitate what he sees because he thinks it will make him cool.

As for cops, I'm also not a big fan. I've had bad experiences from cops who are either racists or drunk on power. That said, I've met a lot of great cops too. My dad was a police officer and most of his friends were really good guys. I've also had the pleasure of knowing some good cops from my mother being a lawyer.
