Greetings my fellow Atlasians:

I am proud to announce that I am running for the Senate at-large in December. I am proud of the work I've done in the Mideast to get measures passed working across party lines and forging cooperative efforts for the good of my region. I plan to bring these same skills and strong work ethic to the Senate to serve all Atlasia.

I'm going to cut this short for now as my wife is tapping her foot with displeasure over how much time I've spent on line tonight. >:-(  I will post a complete platform later. I will only note for now that I am truly grateful to the Mideast for reelecting me to their Assembly. Therefore, I promise without reservation that I will continue to be a full-time Assemblyman and not shirk my duties one iota while running for Senate. I will give my dual jobs of Senate candidate and Assemblyman 100% dedication I promise. (Though I forcast much more impatient toe tapping in the next few weeks) :-(

For now, I open my office for questions, comments and endorsements. Refreshments are served....

VOTE BADGER: BURROWING HIS WAY TO A BETTER ATLASIA!

Hardly. How about we give him a chance to answer the question? Or is that too much to ask?

Assemblyman Badger has the complete and full support of the office of Senator Fritz to replace me in the Senate, and he will likely receive my first preference vote.  Badger has proven himself time after time- in the Assembly, in the courtroom, and as a private citizen on the floor of the Senate.  He has shown us that he has the intelligence, the ideals, and the dedication to Atlasia to become one of the most outstanding members of the Senate this nation has ever seen.  I unequivocally endorse his candidacy.

So many good candidates, you are one of my favorite red avatars in Atlasia and thus will get a preference from me (it's a compliment Wink).

Folks: I spent all day in a DV trial, and can hardly see straight (ergo also my venting my spleen on Vepres a bit harder than necessary in another thread). I promise to add more shortly. For now I want to thank you all for the kind words of support thus far. Especially Fritz--I damn near blushed. I've got some huge shoes to fill with you gone, and I'll do my damnedest to do so always.

Sleep, perchance to get up early tomorrow and do it all over again.

What makes you different from the other candidates?

Thanks for your patience in waiting on an answer. Let's see: There may be few ways I'm completely unique to every single other senate candidate, but I can list several strengths I will can bring to the Senate.

Professional legal training is a great help both in crafting measures to avoid (though not always) unwanted ambiguity or unintended consequences. I've put that to good work in the Mideastern Assembly. Our senators are (with maybe a couple exceptions) bright guys who can spot problems with a proposal, but 15 years litigating helps me identify unintended consequences in a bill like second nature.

Being an ancient man of 40 and a major history buff, I have a strong historical perspective (e.g. the economy under Reagan generally sucked, as did 80's music).

My work ethic and determination are powerful. Once you've passed two state bar exams and started your own law practice straight out of school, anything else seems easy.

I am an economic and social progressive as I believe these policies in the 20th century have made America the great nation it is. I'll take Roosevelt over Reagan, and Obama over W. any day of the week and twice on Sunday. That said, I not only listen to those with a different viewpoint, but am willing to work their good ideas into policy whenever possible. Likewsie, while I can be unsparring in my indictment of arguments I find foolish, I don't take things or make things personal (and inevitasbly regret it when I break that rule).

Again, I'm not claiming for a second that I'm the only candidate to possess these strengths (with the possible exception of the law license and being on the verge of middle-age--ugh) :-P, but I am decidedly strong in these areas and will accordingly serve Atlasia well in the Senate if elected.

Coming up: Positions on pending issues.

What, you don't like '80s music?  Hmm, may have to withdraw my endorsement.  Tongue
