Emsworth is complex, I'm still figuring him out for now.

What's to figure out? Emsbot just declares everything that guards and empowers average people "unconstitutional".

I have to somewhat agree with the partisan Republican here.

Yes Emsworth does have an unfortunate "anti-little people" side to him, I just don't know enough about him to form an opinion. When I came to this site I thought States Rights was the meanest person here, but look how wrong that turned out to be. I don't want to rush to judgement.

I'm glad you do, partisan Democrat.

I don't think Emmy is anti-little people, I just think he has a seriously misguided view of the world that does not compliment his obvious intelligence.  He lacks the understanding of the need for people to work together to achieve common goals and dreams, and not allow legalism or selfishness to get in the way.

I really don't get why everyone holds Philip and Emsworths questioning over the constitutionality of things against them.  He's not saying he opposes them, he just wants to figure out if they're legal.  Do you want to throw the constitution to the side just because you support a law that doesn't work with it?  The constitution can be amended, it isn't written in stone.  Emsworth just means that we either have to follow the constitution, or amend it.

Besides, has anyone ever brothered to read most of their "is _______ unconstitutional?" threads?  The ones I could understand were quite interesting.  Much better than BRTD's numerous "is _______ hot?"  threads Roll Eyes

htmldon, with all due respect, your "Emsbot" thing is really, really dumb.  You imply Ems is just attacking things he doesn't like as unconstitution, while this is obviously not the case.  Emsworth is probably one of the greatist minds on this forum, knowing much more about the American constitution and law than I'd ever hope to know.  If he says something is unconstitutional, I would trust him.  Do you want to actually want to quote a part of the constitution that says it's in their power to set a minimum wage?  If you can't, then why go on and on about it?  Obviously you don't have anyway to challenge what he said, and if it bothers you so much, try to find it in the Constitution.  But stop trowing pointless attacks and name-calling around when you can't even give a rebuttal!

The liberal Democrat or the libertarian Republican? In other words, Hobson's Choice. I'd have to vote for BRTD, despite his obsession with strip joints, who is closer to me on economic issues but Emsworth would win

Neither candidates are exactly... electable... for several reasons (and not just political views). You would either see an absurdly low turnout or a landslide for a third party candidate.

My guess:

422-116

Too extreme?

Also, like Al said, there would be a really low voter turnout.  No offense meant to Emsworth; it’s just a lot of people (i.e. htmldon) think he’s too extreme, (like my map Wink Tongue)

CheeseWhiz, I think that BRTD will do much better than me in populist areas.

Possibly.  I’m not very good with maps.  I think most populist southern states would have ridiculously low turnout.  I think most people would really be scared of BRTD after it comes out that he’s okay with communism.  I think if this was a real election, most of the south would solidly go for some Southern third party, but if they were forced to choose between you guys, I think most would vote for you because you’re not a communist sympathizer.

Both BRTD’s support for communism and your opposition to a federal minimum wage would become serious issues.  Your ability to solidly back up your position would be enough for a lot of people, even if they still didn’t like it.

Given their current knowledge of political issues, assuming a mostly honest campaign Emsworth would clean BRTD's clock. In a two-way race. Populist areas may not like Emsworth's politics much, but do you think rednecks would vote for some immoral artsy pinko commie punk (at least they'd see it that way)? Emsworth at least seems like he's knowledgeable about government.

I would expect record low turnout, though...

Emsworth wins, grey states write in George Wallace's grave Tongue

Honestly I'm not sure if any state could go for some stupid punk like BRTD over Emsworth, a very competentent and knowledgeble person, regardless of the extremity of Emsworth's views, which in comparison to BRTD's aren't that far out there.

I like how the only people apparently who think I would win are myself and Emsworth.

Still I am FAR more moderate than Emsworth.
