Signing statement: I am glad that a compromise could be reached. The forty-post threshold was necessary when some individuals tried to rig an election by flooding the forum with offsite recruits who otherwise had no intention for involvement in the game. I still support a higher threshold than pre-2021 but was nonetheless willing to compromise a reduction of ten posts from the threshold. Today I sign this bill into law.

Signing statement: While I supported, and continue to support, the amendment containing similar language which failed, I believe that the right to organize and bargain collectively is a basic one that should be supported indiscriminately. Unions, when controlled principally by the workers they are intended to represent and cleansed of corrupt elements, play a key role in ensuring the economic security of workers.

Redraft statement: While I appreciate the sentiment behind giving Nathan and Antonio V their own day, I have made clear that I do not support federal holidays commemorating political parties. I am changing the substance of the bill to celebrate these two Atlas greats, both of whom have had limited or no involvement in the game for many years, but have contributed substantially to the forum community outside Atlasia. I am also removing section 2.3, which is nothing if not a vague, unfunded mandate.

Signing statement: I am pleased to sign this bill into law, and I would be remiss not to publicly acknowledge the importance of this law for future reference unless otherwise changed. This shall be, as I pledged to the Senate, the model for the FY2022 and FY2023 budgets, as well as all concurrent ones.

It is also in signing this that I urge the Senate to pass the Harry S Truman Memorial Anti-Lazy Legislating Resolution. This new law and this resolution are complementary to each other in ensuring that every dime we spend or tax is accounted for (roughly speaking, of course).

Redraft statement: Let me first state that bills like this are really not what I had ever intended to be a primary focus of my administration, and I'm very disappointed in the way the process for this repeal played out in many respects. Nonetheless, I will follow through on my promise to support a repeal of the AWB, as well as to redraft this bill with the random amendment to an 88-year-old law removed.

Statement on the election of Louisville Thunder for Southern Governor

Today I am announcing that the election of Louisville Thunder to the Southern governorship is valid. I would like to reiterate, also, that I had never believed LT wasn't the winner, even when I "congratulated" Donerail. Overall, the game has gotten too serious and that's why I don't want much part in it at this point. The Neo-Kantians are the only people having fun in this game. We could learn a thing or two from them.

But memes aide, I fully affirm the integrity of the results of the January 2022 Southern elections.

Okay the meme is dead

Signing statement: All I can say is that I am extremely disappointed in the lack of debate and turnout for this vote. It's very embarrassing to be signing a bill where half the chamber didn't even bother to cast a vote over a six-day period. If you are upset that this bill passed because you disagree with Frémont's packaging laws (I oppose them too!), then don't blame me for not participating in debate or bothering to whip or convince senators into voting the bill down.

Quote from: Executive Order 54:05
Pardon of individuals convicted under the Federal Assault Weapon and Automatic Weapon Ban Act

Effective immediately, all persons convicted under terms of the Federal Assault Weapon and Automatic Weapon Ban Act shall be pardoned.

Scott, President of the Republic of Atlasia

Regardless of whether you supported or opposed repeal, the only constitutional remedy to mitigating such a repeal is to pardon people who were previously convicted of a law no longer in effect. The timing of this pardon is incidental and I do not intend to further inflame divisions within Labor on the gun issue. However, I can promise that this executive order will be my final act on this issue. We now must prioritize getting our fiscal house in order and scrapping our regressive trade deals.

Signing statement: I must say I am relieved that the Senate voted to approve our authorizations bill. This bill - which authorizes spending we already agreed to - should not have passed along party lines. Alas, here we are. And the complete lack of debate on this bill shows that the Federalist Party has no solutions for the Atlasian people, does not care about this country, or the working people. They have shown that they want nothing other than to oppose and scale back the progress we've made for the New Great Society. Both the Federalist Party and the "Patriot" Party cannot be trusted, folks! Dabbing Santa isn't going to solve this country's problems, and neither is Doxxing Loserville. On the other hand, I want to thank our Labor Senate Majority for single-handedly getting this essential bill passed and proving once again, the Labor Party is the party of responsible government that works for the people.

Veto statement: I maintain that reproductive healthcare is, in fact, healthcare, and as such should be covered by the healthcare system. I want to emphasize that the Reproductive Health Expansion Act has no bearing on regional laws on abortion - and indeed, the regions have a great deal of autonomy in dictating their own healthcare systems, in the context of the bipartisan bill we passed several years ago. If a region wants to restrict abortion coverage, they are allowed to do so.

I will also add that the language of this bill is very sloppy. Exactly how do we define "physical health of the mother"? Are we neglecting mental health concerns? I cannot in good conscience support this legislation.

Mr. President,

This doesn't seem to be true given that the Supreme Court just struck down the Southern abortion law.

The Southern abortion law was struck down because it enabled private citizens to sue people for procuring an abortion. "Bounty hunter" laws are clearly unconstitutional.

Signing statement: I am satisfied that a compromise on this issue could be reached.. if not once again irritated that a large chunk of the Senate failed to vote. As I have emphasized before, my support for any vaccine mandate is one that is largely inconsistent with my otherwise hands-off approach to personal medical decisions. However, these are extraordinary circumstances and, in the same breath, I have repeatedly condemned endless mask mandates, and I have called for 2022 to be the year that Atlasia fully reopens. While the president cannot force states or regions to reopen, I am very much in favor of a return to normalcy. All our kids should be back in schools, and our great teachers should reject this hysteria for further remote learning.

Furthermore, last weekend's election affirmed to me that there is strong confidence in the actions our government has been taking to fight the pandemic in a responsible manner that is sensitive to both sides' concerns. But the anti-vax activists and so-called "Liberty Convoy" supporters do not represent where most people stand today. They are, of course, entitled to continue exercising their right to assemble and protest existing policy, provided that this is done so peacefully and within the confines of the law.

AN ACT
To require that all persons prescribed opiates sign a form acknowledging risks

Be it enacted by the Senate of the Republic of Atlasia

Quote
Section 1. Title

This legislation may be cited as the Pain Patients' Right To Know Act.

Section 2. Patient acknowledgement of risk for prescription opioids

1. Prior to legally receiving prescriptions of oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, or methadone, all patients must be required to sign a form acknowledging that their doctor has informed them of the following:

i. Prescription opioids are linked to addiction and can be as harmful as heroin or other illegal street drugs when misused.

ii. 4 out of 5 people who use heroin began by misusing prescription pain medications.

iii. Non-supervised medications can be easily stolen or obtained by young people. 1 in 4 teens report they've misused or abused a prescription drug at least once, with 2 out of 3 teens abusing prescription pain medications say they get them from family or friends.

Signing statement: While I do not anticipate that this bill would solve the addiction crisis overnight, I believe that proper education about opiates is an important tool for patients that also protects doctors from undue harassment from the DEA so that they continue to have the freedom to work with their patients.
