2013 was okay for me, but overall not great. While I enjoyed living in Taiwan and visiting the states, I did not like my job and it came to really dominate my life this year, which limited how much I could explore areas of Taiwan outside of Taipei, since I had to work six days a week. My relationship went well for the first few months, but my then girlfriend and I came to realize how different we were, and while we didn't break up, some problems definitely started to develop. While I started applying for graduate school this year, I still felt kind of stuck in general. I'll go with C-.

2013 was the year I transitioned from my Freshman to Sophomore year of high school. Sophomore year was by far my most difficult year of high school, from an academic perspective. And in the summer of this year, my family went on a road trip to Florida. Overall, I would say the year personally was somewhere between a B and C. Politically, Obama, having been reelected the previous year, entered his second term, and we had a government shutdown along with battles over failed gun control and immigration legislation. In that sense, the year was a C.

D+
Seventh to eighth grade.
Bullying continued and got worse. Teachers were little help. Diagnosed with depression and anxiety in about November or December. Started taking antidepressants and going to therapy, but it wasn't helping much.

I began studying German, found the first woman I actually wanted to marry [it didn't work], moved out of the dorms, and gained a certainty of faith in general not really matched since. It was also the final year my Mother was really in one piece.

I also had to trudge through Sophomore year of Undergrad, started to feel real burnout, lost a good friend in a car accident, did NOT land a paying job for the Summer...

It was not a good year, but compared to the EVEN number years of the Trump era, it's looked more and more amazing, so I'll bump it up in that sense.

D Pretty bad. I had one good week in the summer, and things started to improve in the fall with the new school year and meeting some new friends. But that was a point in my life where I was doing things like deliberately walking in the rain for hours so that I didn't have to interact with anyone and, really, just to punish myself for letting myself get so unhappy.

F. In some ways I am still recovering from the disaster that was the decline that took place from spring 2013 onwards.

My parents separated, got back together, then separated again in a very disruptive and violent fashion. The income levels plummeted, the bills got behind and my "college savings" were wiped out trying to sustain the unsustainable.

C+. The year wasn't terrible, but it was.....kinda pointless? In an attempt to boost my HSC marks I split Yr 12 over two years, but it meant that the second year I had massive "how do you do, fellow kids" energy. And despite being good friends with a number of people in the year below me, I didn't really fit in. Even in terms of marks it didn't really boost my score as I just spent the copius amounts of out of school hours bludging, and as I didn't go to uni straight away it was basically a wasted opportunity.

On the plus side, I got to go overseas again, and having my peers turn 18 helped make the year entertaining too. But yeah, it was a bit of a waste of a year, whereas most other years at least had some purpose.
