I voted a very strong Yes. As with most things, it's the South that is largely stuck in the past. I'm okay with keeping smoking (cigarettes) legal (and I vehemently opposed raising the age to 21), but it should be kept out of public places.

There should be exceptions for cigar lounges, hookah bars, casinos, etc.

I agree with this, except that I see no reason why casinos should be exempt. Smoking bans were largely designed as a workplace safety measure.

Australia banned indoor smoking years ago. I thought you guys did too.

All smoking is outside unless you own the place as a private residence.

The Wikipedia article mentioned above should give you a good picture of the current laws in the US. Some states and municipalities have actually passed ballot measures banning smoking in public places, though I think all (or at least nearly all) remaining states require action through their state legislatures.

obviously it should be up to the owners of the establishment in question, and it always should have been.  If there are 8 "da clubs" in an area, 4 smoking, 4 non-smoking, and everybody goes to the smoking ones, THATS NOT THE FAULT OF THE SMOKERS!  It's not their fault they are cooler than you, it's just the way it is.

Pretty much this. Especially now where only like 10-15% of the adult US population smokes. If you have 10 bars in a given area, it's very likely that at least 8-9 would ban smoking on their own fruition anyways. If you don't like it then just avoid the bars that allow it. Not that hard.

Although I'd be okay with separate smoking sections as long as they're actually separate, with a wall or glass between the two sections.

Don't know what it's like in the Netherlands (because the last time I "went partying" anywhere in the BENELUX was when I was like 20, and thus don't remember), but that's the case in Germany.  At least the 3 states I am most familiar with.

The issue, though, is that the smoking sections is where all the cool kids hung out--even for non-smokers and the occasionally-rare "social smoker" like myself.

The non-smoking areas were for all the nerds and the neo-maxizoomb dweebies.

I support a ban as I believe government shouldn't make rules when harming yourself thus why I oppose outright smoking ban, but moment you harm others they have right to limit it.  And smoking indoors not just harms smoker, but all those around who have to breathe it in.  I am glad it got banned right when I started going out to bars as I cannot stand smoke.  And for those who mention choice, what about people working in the place?  One of the reasons it was banned is there was some high profile cases of servers and bartenders getting lung cancer without ever smoking due to inhaling second hand smoke.

Public places? Absolutely.

And every country should enact plain packaging laws as well.

I'm going to need a cite for that.  There is no way to prove how someone got lung cancer, any court that used that as evidence is a sh**t court.

Smoking was banned because Karens, "wont someone think of the servers" progressives and Christians don't like people enjoying themselves in ways they don't approve of.  Nobody was ever forced to work in a smoke filled bar and there are far  greater dangers in the work place than second hand smoke, even in bars (drunks, heavy things, coworkers, slippery floors, sharp objects), not to mention, ya know, actually dangerous work.

Or do you believe people should have the right to damage their lungs wherever?

Wikipedia:
Quote
As of July 2018, 29 states have enacted statewide bans on smoking in all enclosed workplaces, including all bars and restaurants: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin. Ten other states have enacted statewide smoking bans but have carved out an exception for certain establishments and workplaces: Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_smoking_bans_in_the_United_States

I support the law as it is in Virginia, which isn't on this list and yet I do not recall encountering indoor smoking in over a decade. Granted I don't go to bars or night clubs, but tobacco smoke is often far from the most dangerous thing going on in those places.

Smoking nicotine should be banned in most enclosed public places, but smoking weed should not
