SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA, Okla. (KFOR) – A rural Oklahoma doctor said patients who are taking the horse de-wormer medication, ivermectin, to fight COVID-19 are causing emergency room and ambulance back ups.

As if they didn't have enough problems trying to handle all the sick Covid patients, now they have this BS to contend with.
Good God.

Resistance libs getting up in arms about this video without realizing that Virginia Tech has a vaccine mandate.

The stadium is open to the public, did they impose the mandate on everyone? Did they check the vaccine card at the door? I highly doubt it.

I didn't say the stadium should have been closed, there are economic costs to that which at this point nobody has the will to pay. But it's clearly a highly risky activity and people who want to avoid catching COVID-19 should stay away. It's entirely reasonable for public health officials to message against it and discourage people from attending. People who attend do so at their own risk, there are plenty of allowed activities that involve taking on personal risk.

This is my school!  As I mentioned earlier, we have a vaccine mandate and a test positivity of 1.3%.
And it is an -outdoor- event!  This is -not- a high risk activity.

Want to mention that just because it's "an outdoor event" doesn't make it safe and remove all "risk."
These people are shoulder to shoulder and screaming.

There's a vaccine mandate in place. Stop telling fully vaccinated Americans how to have fun.

Where do you see me saying that people should "stop having fun"?

Read what I wrote. Of course you never said that, but you tried to subtly shame them since their activity is "risky." Everything carries risk, if your goal is to eliminate risk entirely you might as well never leave your bed. Would you rather these people have all stayed home, despite being fully vaccinated? What is your endgame? Why are you so bothered by fully vaccinated individuals moving on from the pandemic?

Not everyone wants to sit at home and do puzzles for eternity.

Read what I wrote. I'm not trying to "subtly shame" no one.
All I'm doing is just stating a fact.
Stop being such a jack***.

We are almost two years into this global Pandemic, and Republicans/Conservatives are still acting like morons.
In the video, they boo when Graham recommends they get vaccinated, and they call him a liar for saying most of the South Carolina's people in ICU, are those who are unvaccinated.

So while politically unpopular to say this, the fact is this is a learning process.

The MRNA vaccines are miracles in that the technology allowed for the development of largely effective vaccines in a shorter period of time than anyone thought possible.  At the end of the day they are a new technology, and we were in a rush. There is little to no evidence that this rush resulted in serious trade offs in terms of safety, but it is understandable that some choices were made in the dark.

Among those is Pfizer going for a lower dose than Moderna.

The proper approach should have been grateful for how good these vaccines were given the context of their development. That would have involved recognizing that both the vaccines themselves, and their deployment could and would be improved. For instance, we now have a large amount of data that extending the gap between first and second doses as the UK did resulted in much better protection than the shorter 3-4 week gaps.

The problem is that everyone is demanding perfection in different ways from a product which is 95%  perfect. Anti-vaxxers say that 5% proves it is bad. Pro-Vaxxers insist that 5% means it does not work and they demand to be shot full of more of it rather than waiting for more research into how to get it from 95% to 99%. If they waited an extra three months we could find out from those current studies on mixing Pfizer shots with Moderna Boosters etc and see if we could get a much more effective and longer lasting approach. But no. Everyone is in a hurry

My father is still unvaccinated, and he continues to believe-as he has for months-that the vaccines are ineffective, and that he's not going to get vaccinated unless if they come out with one that is 100% effective. That is obviously never going to happen. I've given up trying to argue with him about it.

Does he wear a seat belt in the car?  You could point out that some people die in car accidents even when wearing seat belts; they're not 100% either.  But wearing one greatly increases the chance of survival.

Like I said, I've given up trying to persuade him. He's very stubborn, and once his mind is set, it's hard to get him to change course.

Does his decision not to get vaccinated relate to his politics? (a trump supporter)

These protesters are pathetic as they come.
Can you imagine screaming and scaring children, by telling them they are being "raped" by their parents? This was suppose to be a fun, walk-your-child-to-school event(day), and you have assh**es like this upsetting the kids and parents.
This angers me to no end.

Interesting. Aaron Rodgers confirms that he is unvaccinated, and has now tested positive for Covid. I guess he is experiencing mild symptoms.

He will miss Sunday's road game against the Kansas City Chiefs due to Covid-19 NFL protocols.

Covid-19 patients at this hospital are dying 'at a rate we've never seen die before' -- and it's taking a toll on health care workers.

Nurse Katie Sefton never thought Covid-19 could get this bad -- and certainly not this late in the pandemic.
"I was really hoping that we'd (all) get vaccinated and things would be back to normal," said Sefton, an assistant manager at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.

But this week Michigan had more patients hospitalized for Covid-19 than ever before. Covid-19 hospitalizations jumped 88% in the past month, according to the Michigan Health & Hospital Association.

"We have more patients than we've ever had at any point, and we're seeing more people die at a rate we've never seen die before," said Jim Dover, president and CEO of Sparrow Health System.
"Since January, we've had about 289 deaths; 75% are unvaccinated people," Dover said. "And the very few (vaccinated people) who passed away all were more than 6 months out from their shot. So we've not had a single person who has had a booster shot die from Covid."

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/12/09/us/hospital-covid-19-deaths-michigan/index.html

The vast majority of the problem for this hospital, are people who are still completely unvaccinated.
What the hell is wrong with people who still don't have at least one shot yet? Are they living under a rock?

Remember that still means a small percentage of vaccinated end up in the ICU. Because not many end up in the ICU, vaccinated or not.

Yes the vaccine does have a good effect in preventing hospitalization, and if 100% of the population were vaccinated 100% of cases would be breakthroughs, but we'd expect the more people vaccinated, the fewer people end up in the hospital. However hospitals are still having to cancel elective surgeries, call the military/National Guard for help, etc, which means the effect is not good enough right now.

Many here fail to understand this.
They actually just love to skip-over such stories and go into their pretend-world that it is not happening.
I posted a story of a hospital in Michigan, where the staff are exhausted, both physically and emotionally from all the Covid sick & dying. One nurse said she had her first panic-attack in the parking lot, when she drove-in to start her shift. She broke-down and found it difficult just to get out of her car, and go inside the hospital.
This entire hospital also had to cancel most surgeries and other high-level medical procedures, just to accommodate all the Covid patients.

Trump should really stop doing this. Has there ever been any issue on which he's been so out of touch with his own base?

"trump should stop doing" what, exactly?
Explain.

Just because the scientific community gives advise (aka, doing their jobs) doesn't mean you have to follow it.  So calm the f down.

The "scientific community" isn't a monolith, and they surely wouldn't elect Fauxi as their spokesperson.

No one is saying they are a "monolith."
The previous admin and the current one, have placed Fauci to act as a spokesperson regarding Covid.

Texas mother allegedly put son in trunk of car to avoid being exposed to Covid-19.

A Texas mother has been charged with endangering a child after she allegedly placed her 13-year-old son, who had Covid-19, into her car's trunk to avoid being exposed to the virus, according to a warrant from the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

Sarah Beam, 41, was charged after authorities arrived at a Houston-area Covid testing site on January 3 following a report that a health services official had found the child in trunk of Beam's car. According to the warrant, the director of health services stated she was gathering information from cars in a line for Covid testing when "she found a female driver, later identified as Sarah Beam, having her child in the trunk of her car."
