Plausible but IMO really awful, like both parties were just phoning it in.
Could force a real 3rd party challenger, as the illusion that the USA is anything other than an oligarchy would evaporate. Hyperbole perhaps, but still, a potentially weak matchup for both R and D, they almost cancel one another out, as both would grab from the others base.
