Let me tell you folks the story about a man who killed a teenage boy once.  He did it with a gun and there was nobody there to stop him.  He has a history of racism, bigotry, and discrimination and a very well established history of violence.  And not only that, but he got away with it.

Is this George Zimmerman I'm talking about?  No, it's Uncle Sam.  And not only has he done it once, he's done it many times over.

Where's your f***ing outrage over that?

Most likely the heat is gone from the enactment of Duty to Starve laws.

How could he be a Muslim and a white supremacist at the same time?

Que the right left-wingers who think Hitler was a left right-winger in 3....2....1.... (Go)
He wasn't a left-winger or a right-winger, he was just extreme.

Aside from supporting Adlai Stevenson (which is ironic considering Stevenson's personal racism), a massive FF, both for his politics and as an actor.  Very similar to myself by nature of being considered moderate by 50s/60s standards, and a conservative by contemporary standards.

BTW, he was also a great Michigander.

But Stevenson was a racist.  He was once described as having "personal discomfort in the presence of Negroes."

Now here's a REALLY bad one:
BREAKING: Southern Republicans still super racist.

Massive FF.  Too bad anybody who's conservative on here is automatically blacklisted.

That's not fair. Obnoxious, overly partisan conservatives like you and barfbag get blacklisted, but intelligent, pragmatic ones like Senator Maxwell are treated with the respect they deserve. And it goes the same way with liberals.

Anyway, I think this forum will be a lot less interesting/fun/exciting for me without barfbag, even if I do think he is one of the biggest dunderheads on the planet. HP, but I want him back ASAP.

Cory, Krazen, and potentially even Oldiesfreak and Waukesha County ("Elections Guy") would be more deserving of the ban than barfy.
But I am intelligent and pragmatic.  You just don't recognize it because I also happen to be very loyal to the GOP.
And I wouldn't really call Maxwell conservative, since he seems more moderate/liberal on a lot of social issues.
In the words of Senator Abe Ribicoff (from your home state), how hard it is to accept the truth.

There may be evidence he was right-wing, but there's absolutely no solid evidence he was a bigot.  He hired lots of Jews (not to mention a few blacks.)

Lyndon Johnson ranks among the top 5 US presidents, if not the best.

As an American Jew, I believe there is no greater threat to worldwide security and peace than this man and his evil, Zionist worldview.

Epic Freedom Music.  Love it to death, if my screenname didn't give that one away.  I'm thinking about getting a pompadour, FTR.

If he has the type of hair where he can rock it, I see no problem with it

I don't know if you can make a pompadour with black hair though. Maybe with a lot of work and product. Oldies should get a jerry curl though.

I was afraid to make this comment.
Funny you should mention that, since my hair is a very dark brown, so much that many people would think it's black at first glance.

Mandela faced far more obstacles in his fight.

No words express the level of distaste I feel towards this post...

Please explain why. This post wasn't meant to say that Dr. King never faced any obstacles but that Mandela struggled against a far more oppressive government opposed to rights for blacks then MLK ever did.

This might be true but it's not a comparison worth making considering that in our country, countless African-Americans were killed or imprisoned with state-sanctioned violence during the struggle for civil rights. It's also worth keeping in mind that MLK was hated by whites at the time of his assassination and was faced by violent mobs in every northern city he went to.
Not all whites.  Some of them maybe, but I'm sure there were plenty that admired him, too.

1968 Presidential Election:

Governor Oldiesfreak1854 (R-MI)/Senator ElectionsGuy (R-WI) - 284 EVs
Senator Snowstalker (D-PA)/Governor Adam C. FitzGerald (D-OH) - 254 EVs

Dixie ultimately costs the Democrats in the race the election. Despite unpopularity of the War in Vietnam and an outgoing incumbent Democratic President, Snowstalker and A. FitzGerald become doves on foreign policy promising a full withdrawal of U.S. troops from Vietnam and remain competitive up north while holding a number of southern states. However, still angry over the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the deep south turns against the social Democrats and turn to the more socially conservative Republican Governor of Michigan, Oldiesfreak.

The South was already moving toward Republicans before the civil rights legislation.  And you seriously think white racists would vote for me?

SKIP
Any of you who know my political views know that this map is comical.  And after World War II, a lot of people began moving into the South from places that had been more Republican, and they brought those politics with them.  Not to mention the influence of anti-communism and religious conservatives.  Race had very little to do with it.

I think according to this definition it aligns pretty well with the Republican Party's ideology.

Against, obviously. This seems like he's continuing the Bloomberg style of banning ridiculous things.

None of Bloomberg's bans were ridiculous.

The childish libertarian belief that people and corporations should have the absolute freedom to poison other people is what's ridiculous.
Because corporations are forcing fat people at gunpoint to eat at McDonalds and drink their large sodas.

Bloomberg never banned soda. People could still drink as much soda as they wanted to drink.
As much soda as they want to drink....as long as it is not in a large cup.
Glad I can still get my 64-ounce Super Big Gulp here in Michigan.

Unfortunately for NYC, it looks like Bill De Blasio's finger is thicker than Bloomberg's waist (and those bans are probably why.)

C'mon dude, this is not an absurd post.

I liked him and considered supporting him if he ran for President in 2016, but now I think that he is a massive HP due to the revelations of his scandals. It is complete BS that he did not know what was going on with the bridge closure and it is quite obvious that he embezzled money form Hurricane Sandy aid to further his political career. I am hoping that he is thrown out of office and will face criminal prosecution for his actions.

Yes, but he was also a champion of civil rights, just like our party's early leaders were, and that outweighs any position he took on abortion in my mind.

He was also a champion of sending a lot of young black men to prison with his enactment of the strictest (and dumbest) drug laws in the country up to that point, so that kind of cancels out the whole "big civil rights advocate" in my mind.
Especially because a lot of young white men probably went to prison under those laws as well.

This is not an absurd, ignorant, or bad post in any meaningful way.
Yes, it is, because it assumes that blacks are more likely to use drugs than whites.

Two valiant liberal women who have devoted their lives to making Republicans look awful and irrelevant. Michele is funnier and slightly more believable, so her.

Sounds like a Republican paradise. Gay hating and emailing business opportunities is effectively unregulated. Only problem is that most people are black.

Here comes a double whammy:

Seriously though, this. Definite HP, though I admit that otherwise, his policies weren't too bad. It's just that the drug laws outweigh everything else.
