She will get there.

I don't know what Ryan and Moulton think they will accomplish with this. They block Pelosi, then they are done in Democratic politics.

Every single one of them will be toast in two years if they allow R's to pick the speaker.

Probably not.

Anyways, Pelosi will probably get the numbers she needs. The progressives opposing her don't have a clear unified choice to oppose her besides maybe Barabara Lee, and she's fiercely loyal to Nancy.

It isn't progressives that are opposing her, it is the centrists.

Like I said, all of them will be toast in two years if they allow the speakership to go to the Republicans. The base isn't going to stand for Democrats who helped tanked their chance to control the legislative agenda.

Progressives were opposing her but I think she consolidated that vote.

Yup.

Now hopefully she picks off the freshmen on this list one by one and then buries Seth Moulton and Tim Ryan back in the political graveyard.

Good riddance to them both. Ryan is pro-tax reform and I would never vote for Moulton after the s*** he pulled in my district.

If they pick a conservative for Speaker, I leave the party. If I wanted to vote for Republican policies, I'd vote for a Republican.

Yeah, both have to go in 2020. This is not the time for petty internal party politics.

Yup. Also the Speaker as well as the Senate majority leader are seen as the faces of congress. And congress as institution is usually fairly unpopular.

The Congressional Black Caucus is at war with DNC and Perez over superdelegates. That's why Martha Fudge, a Congressional Black woman has emerged as the challenger to Pelosi.

Pelosi gave Dubya the store when Tarp passed in 2008, which progressives like Feingold, CBC were against. Which disrupted the passage of Comprehensive immigration reform.

Dems don't need to compromise withe GOP. They must oppose Trump

Are people really this dumb? Go look who is leading the charge to replace her. These aren’t anti Trump Democrats. They are tone deaf moderates who continue to misread the political climate.

It is.

This is why it is hilarious and sad how some dumb progressives on here are cheering this on. If Ryan and Moulton get their way, Democrats will be cutting deals with R's like it is 2001. If that happens, I don't want to hear from these people anymore.

This is a generational thing more than a ideological one.

Really? Then why are they propping up a 66 year old?

This isn't a generational thing. It is about ideology. The "revolt" is coming from moderate white guys, who are politically inept and think it is the late 90's and early 2000's.

I think it's about growing up with the same person in power rather than age (same with Bernie and Hillary).

The young progressive attitude toward Pelosi on here is generational, but you're right that the actual revolt in Congress is led by moderates

This would be fine and dandy if the people potentially replacing Pelosi were young progressives. But they aren't. It is just incredibly dumb for any progressive to cheer this on. Again, if Moulton and Ryan are successful, then we are going right back to 2001 and that would be a disaster.

Luckily, most progressive in congress are smarter then the some of the dopes on here and realize that they would be shooting themselves in the foot by signing on to this nonsense.

I don't see youth as being an excuse. I am a millennial as well and even though I would like to see young progressives take over, I am smart enough to realize that this gambit doesn't do that and even so right now is not the time to do so.

This guy wants to be Democrats' new leader. Seriously.

He is politically inept. However, since he is white guy from the midwest, people pretend that he is a serious person.

Get him the **** out of here.

Caving.

Pelosi will allow Fudge to pick off the menu and that should be the end of that.

Twitter has started some hashtags about this entire thing, none of which good for the userpers.

#ImwithPelosi/#TeamPelosi

and

#fivewhitemen
The five white men being:
Tim Ryan
Seth Moulton
Bill Foster
Kurt Schrader
Ed Perlmutter

Is it really that big of an issue that Tim Ryan is a white male? Or am I too privileged? I hate the base of my party sometimes.

Being a white male isn't the issue. The issue is they are mediocre.

Better a new mediocre person in charge than someone who is a relic of the DLC era.

Your trolling is getting lazier and lazier by the day.

I think Tim Ryan and Seth are going to fail but I admire and appreciate the effort. We need to go back to the center.

Lmao.

You do realize that the vast majority of the Democratic candidates who flipped House seats this year were Proggresives who supported Medicare for all, Free College, 15 dollar minimum wage, Gun control, Comprehensive Immigration reform, etc, instead of mushy moderate “New Democrats” who obsess over balanced budgets and bipartisanship, right?

Yes, but I also legit want a government that can work together and get things done, and I want to see my party take steps towards that. I don’t want gridlock, I want DC to work.

It will start to "work" when we get the Presidency

But why can’t we try to work with President Trump now?

The fundamental objective of President Trump is destruction of America. "Working" with him, at this stage, will eventually qualify as collaboration. Who wants to be a von Papen?

You have to realize that it is always 2002 for some centrists like Bagel.

It seems pretty clear that Pelosi could easily sort this out by pledging to only serve two years.

Then Beto can be elected Speaker after winning TX-32 in 2020.

Why would Beto even want to be speaker?

You don't want anyone with potential to move up the political ladder to become speaker of the house or senate majority leader.

Everybody with more than two functioning brain cells agrees that impeachment is a waste of time and will only help Trump by rallying his party around him.

On top of that abolishing the ICE polls at 25%.

It is hilarious how Pelosi gets mocked by some on the left and yet she has a better feel for the political environment then these clowns.

Pelosi opposed impeaching Bush when a majority of the public wanted him impeached. She opposes impeaching Trump today because Democrats need a bogeyman.

Pelosi opposed it because it is a waste of time since there is no grounds to impeach Bush on and there was no chance the Senate would have voted to remove him.

As for Trump, she is smart enough to realize that talking about impeachment while Mueller is still working undermines the credibility of both Mueller and the probe.

Again. Pelosi is a master at this. She might even be better than McConnell. Too bad Dems had deadweight Harry Reid dragging them down in 2009-2010.

I agree with the first part, but Reid wasn't a deadweight (if nothing else, he deserves credit for building a first-class political machine in Nevada).  The existence of the filibuster meant that Reid had a much harder job than Pelosi; I do think Schumer's an improvement though since he managed to get McCain to vote against the Obamacare repeal (IIRC Schumer was the one who convinced McCain to switch from an "aye" to a "nay" on that).  Blocking the Obamacare repeal bill was a pretty big coup for Senate Democrats.  That said, Pelosi is far more effective than Reid or Schumer.

I don't think Schumer is an improvement over Reid at all. Schumer doesn't care for confrontation, while Reid does and I believe you need that when you are going up against Trump.
