Minneapolis would be a good choice for the reason Winfield described.
Florida would probably be too hot and might bring back memories of 2000. Also the convention might be during hurricane season so it would be good to avoid the South).
Cleveland wouldn't be a bad choice but might bring back memories of 2004 (at least among the most liberal 1% of the population).
New Orleans would have worked if the Republicans did a better job handling the hurricane (the opposite of which worked in NYC 2004). Like Tampa, NO would be too hot and hurricane-prone anyway.
