Sigh, the actual letter says noting other than we found some more emails, we are going to look at them, could be nothing. But that's not what the headlines are.

Glad to see that Atlas is overreacting. Basically means it won't impact the race at all.

Stocks are dropping

Sam Stein ✔ @samsteinhp
Pete Williams sources say in course of a separate investigation, FBI came across "a device." found emails there. but emails NOT from HRC
1:14 PM - 28 Oct 2016

So... it's nothing.

That should have been in the letter. If the emails aren't from HRC, then why does it matter?

It seems to me that Comey, per his usual operating procedures, worded the letter in as vague a way as possible to cause as much chaos and damage to Hillary Clinton as he could in what is ultimately a nothingburger.

If what Pete Williams is reporting is right, this is nothing being played out to be huge. Really disappointing.

Its funny, this was a scandal for all of an hour. Comey just ruined his credibility though.

If the story turns to what Pete Williams has reported than I agree, if not this will have an impact. Good news is this is looking less like a campaign killer.

E-mails are not from Clinton, which means this is a huge nothingburger.

My hope is that his is where the discussion turns or Comey goes public with the current facts.

Oh, and for those who were freaking out over the stocks tanking, Dow is now up .09%.

Traders must have read what was actually in the letter and the reports that have come afterwards.

CNN now changed to "FBI reviewing" so at least there's that.

yeah but its too late already. once you report it even without subsistence it gets ingrained in the minds of a lot of people already.

I don't know if it's really too late as long as the factual narrative is presented before the weekend.

Important point about why Comey had to send this letter, and why today.

Comey testified under oath to Congress that the investigation was "complete".  The letter is an amendment to that statement.  And as that was under oath, he could theoretically be under some legal jeopardy if he did not issue timely notification that his testimony had to be modified.

That could tell us that there's less here than we think, but it seems this letter is purely for Comey to covering himself with Congress.

Thats fine, but his letter was vague and poorly worded.

A few more details in the letter and this would have been a much smaller thing.

FBI Sources saying emails are from Huma to Hillary, recovered from Huma's phone. Would not affect FBI decision to not charge in case.

If this is accurate, I'm going to be pissed it wasn't shared in then original letter.

The more I explore online, it really seems like folks are more pissed off with the timing of this rather than what the content actually is.

Lo and behold my friends, the backfire.

CNN's front page is surprisingly not that different, they even have a front page link to an opinion piece calling for Comey to resign.

Not to be a constant prophet of doom, but... the people who might be swayed by this story don't read HuffPost.

Show me what the networks are saying, and I'll tell you if I'm worried or not.

I don't know if you saw the front page of CNN that I posted, but it's not that bad. They have a front page op-ed calling on Comey to resign.

This story is becoming more about Comey and less about Hillary.

So the media are talking about it. F**k.

This could still be bad.

Looking just what's trending on twitter, #hillarysemail is #2, but nothing else on the list has to do with the issue.

Also I saw an article last night that the social media analysis of this was really heavy at the beginning before being reduced to normal story, compared to the Access Hollywood tape which started small and grew to enormous levels by the end of the night.

Again, whatever HuffPost says has no effect whatsoever.

I'm worried about CNN, NBC, CBS etc.

CNN, albeit worded less sensationally, essentially says the same.

CBS says the same, emphasizing that Comey broke from long-standing practice on ongoing investigations.

NBC's main story is a fact checking what Trump said as lies.
