This went from House of Cards to Veep really quick.

Veep is the better approximation of real life, so it was inevitable...

Anthony Weiner is the number 1 hashtag on twitter which is good news, I think?

Internet =/= TV.

This is part of why I'm not that concerned about Internet becoming the main news source. Nothing can be worse than TV.

Great.

I wonder how this will affect the GE outcome.

@jonfavs:

After a DEFCON 1 freakout, we now know the emails in question were:

1) Not from Hillary

2) Not from her sever

3) Not from her investigation

Speculation, but this could be all about Huma and her interviews with the FBI...reporting is that this is not anything to do with HRC emails...

Doesn't matter, damage is done. If the truth mattered in this campaign Trump wouldn't be polling above 30%.

Important point about why Comey had to send this letter, and why today.

Comey testified under oath to Congress that the investigation was "complete".  The letter is an amendment to that statement.  And as that was under oath, he could theoretically be under some legal jeopardy if he did not issue timely notification that his testimony had to be modified.

That could tell us that there's less here than we think, but it seems this letter is purely for Comey to covering himself with Congress.

Thats fine, but his letter was vague and poorly worded.

The election is already basically set. This really shouldn't change much of anything in the long run. As I've said, at worst there's the 272 firewall which won't overturn over this. Just means a smaller win.

A few more details in the letter and this would have been a much smaller thing.

Stop trying to put lipstick on this pig with these asterisks and bullet points -- as far as the media and the general public are concerned, all and any emails are Clinton emails.

PS: A small Clinton >=300 EV win would be a devastating loss for the Democratic Party. It would mean an open season for the GOP Congress to start impeachment proceedings against Clinton (and Kaine) even before her inauguration.

I DON'T WANT A SMALLER WIN

This should be a landslide. Anything else is a disaster for American democracy.

That answers my question. Would have been nice if he mentioned how small a deal this is in that letter but w/e. (Politico, my main political news source this whole cycle, hasn't updated the story as far as I know)

Podesta says "incredible this is coming out 11 days before election day", I'm not sure why you guys are assuming that these emails have nothing to do with Clinton though, they wouldn't have sent that letter to Congress if it had nothing to do with Clinton.

If it was only three emails as has been reported why couldn't he have quickly reviewed them for classified information and then reported the results of that with the letter to congress .......... instead he leaves it deliberately vague and open to politicking from the GOP.

Hope Obama or whoever tears him a new one.

Nice for the blue avatars to get their first sunshine since the last few weeks.

Just curious, do you prefer this to be a red-only sandbox?

That's a honest question, not trying to poke.  Just curious if you'd prefer this board to be "friendlier" that way.

We'd like the blue avatars to stick around regardless of the state of the race, not hide in woodwork whenever things look bad, and come out when you get good (for you) news.
