And early this morning my grandmother, 95 years old, joined those who passed from covid-19. Sad

New she tested positive a couple weeks ago, and slipped into a very bad State mid-week. She actually was recovering and doing better these last few days. Since she had recovered enough to be conscious, I planned on trying to set up a phone call or a Skype meeting for her with my family since no one is allowed to visit her in person oh, but alas it was not to be. Had to tell the boys today that their GG-- short for Great Grandma - - passed away.

She was a very strong woman who went through a lot. She married my grandfather when she was in her late teens and had my dad a year later when she was I believe 19.. earlier, during World War II she worked in a factory making machine guns for the war effort. She told us about how during lunch breaks her and the other workers would go out to the parking lot dance to music on a radio. She remarried another man close to 30 years ago, and he passed about 3 years ago himself. Ironically, also a railroad man before he retired. She raised four successful kids, had only four grandchildren including myself since my one uncle and my aunt never had kids, and has five great grandkids.

Rest in peace, Grandma. I love you.

Thank you folks. Genuinely not trying to attention w****. Just atlases, all joking aside, a part of my life, and I just felt inspired to post something about Grandma. The fact that people hear of shared stories of losing loved ones and even getting sick themselves just seem to make it the appropriate spot.

Thank you again.

So, more crazy covid-19 hijinx, kids! We were in East Ohio and I-70 half way to my grandmother's funeral in Pittsburgh when my wife received a text from our son's gymnastics coach. Apparently one of our son's teammates tested positive for, and not a false positive. The kid was last in the gym on August 20th, but my son would have been exposed to him then, and that is obviously within the two-week incubation time. Although the gym does a great job in terms of enforcing social distancing, mask-wearing,  rigorously  cleaning equipment and after each individual use, and keeping its large garage style doors open for air circulation, we still obviously could be asymptomatic positive at this point.

With some hurried family discussions, it was reluctantly decided by everyone, especially considering the number of covid vulnerable individuals who will be present, that we would how to turn around and forgo going to my grandmother's funeral. Sad We are going to get tested ASAP in the next day or two, and otherwise quarantine ourselves for at least the next week until test results come back, possibly next week as well depending on doctor's orders.

The last 30 hours have been an absolute sh**tbag

I'm going to post the same thing here as I just did on the main Thread about the trumps catching one should look at this the same way you view someone who was hospitalized from a traffic accident they got into after driving 30 miles above the speed limit and running repeated red lights. You hope they recover soon, but you can't help but shake your head at how much that person's recklessness threatened the health and safety of not only themselves, but of countless Innocents as well.

To fully complete the analogy, when should consider Trump the same as someone with a long history of such traffic offenses, in that you know they are almost surely not going to learn anything from the experience.

Oh, so, typhoid Donnie went home to the White House late last night. His statements and actions even in doing that are - - - totally special.

Worst. President. Ever.

Worst. Presidential. Supporters. Ever.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Thursday that he won’t support extending several of the emergency loan programs his agency set up with the Federal Reserve that are set to expire at the end of the year.

In a letter to the Fed, Mnuchin said the Fed’s innovative lending program for small- and medum-sized businesses would not be extended. He also said he wouldn’t extend the Fed’s municipal lending and corporate credit loan programs.

In a statement, the Fed said that it opposed Mnuchin’s decision. Under the law, the Treasury secretary must agree in order for the programs to continue.

In short, f*** Biden from the get-go

New evidence shows Trump appointees' political interference with CDC weekly Covid data reports, House subcommittee says.

A Democratic-led House select committee says it has uncovered evidence of political interference by the Trump administration into the federal government's coronavirus response last year, including attempts to alter or block data reports from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention detailing the dire effects of the virus.

I'm not getting any boosters. The governments of the world need to concentrate on getting shots to unvaccinated people, especially since unlike the United States people around the globe are desperate for these vaccines.

I've made this same point myself. People in Africa, Asia, and Latin America would crawl over broken glass to obtain the vaccine. We are so privileged, and it's a disgrace that so many people in this country don't want to get vaccinated.

Oh please. All this shows is kids, just like adults, are tired of wearing masks after 2 years of covid. This doesn't begin to prove of course all the nonsense BS from disingenuous liars claiming how wearing mask was going to irreparably damage our kids Emotionally and ability to relate to others for life blah blah.

And can I just please say to all the people who minimized covid from day one, "it's basically just the flu" , It's just killing the elderly anyway, mah freedoms et cetera, that this is great news that we may be finally past covid.

Is awesome. And we did it without you assholes. And all you're whining about wearing a piece of cloth over your over your face and listening to some quacks on the Internet rather than getting a goddamn vaccine like an effing grown up because  You goddamn politicized a basic issue of public health and safety, listening to your Orange cheeto God rather than admitting you or he could have ever ever been wrong.

This country couldn't win World War II today. "Food rationing?? Not being able to get nylons and clothing when I want it?!? We need to remove these restrictions because the soldiers are great and brave enough they don't need ready supplies like that!" Completely pathetic. There, I said it....

The COVID death rate is so minimal, under a tenth of a percent. Less people would have died if we didn't react so strongly and let society continue as normal. Our economy and culture has suffered long enough.

The only time in my 31 years of life I’ve ever considered suicide was when NYC was in “show your vax card to do anything” status. I felt like a prisoner, someone on house arrest. It had a massively negative effect on my emotional health. I have to imagine I’m not alone and that others may have suffered from severe emotional strain as a result of Covid restrictions.

I'm not wishing to belittle your mental health struggles,  but if the requirement of showing your vaccination card to donthings caused you to feel suicidal, you need to seek help immediately as there are much deeper issues at play here having nothing to do with covid restrictions.

My next door neighbor's daughter was diagnosed with covid-19 day night. She was at our house most of Saturday and seemed to be fine then. No one over here is showing symptoms yet.

My poor friends. The mother works as an emergency room nurse, so this is like literally the third time covid has hit their household.

Yall will be okay i hope you feel better.

Just don't be a hypochondriac. It's just a cold

Up yours. Your constant Screaming Meemie act about covid has gotten really effing tiresome over the last 2 years. Don't tell me how to feel or not to feel for my own goddamn illness. That is beyond presumptuous.

As it stands it feels like a really s***** cold, but I don't need any direction from some internet troll who can't articulate two coherent sentences Beyond "FYRE FAUCCI!!1!" or going on and on and on like some Coomer how much he likes Latino guys. If you insist on continuing on in that vein, at least have that courtesy and common sense to stay out of MY lane.

You have for a long time now needed a big glass of STFU juice. Drink up now.

Hey! I hope you feel better. I am suggesting trying not to think of this virus and get better as soon as possible.

This winter will be pretty bad, so just be happy you have the extra immunity.

I know you are very very old, so I am legit worried.. just please stay strong and recover quickly.

Edit: for the 500th time, I am NOT a troll!!!

Resolved via PMs. Sorry I snapped.
