Alas, he is far from the only blue/yellow avatar that justifies murder in the name of law and order.

So guys, what would you do if there were a few dozen people with tiki torches and molotov cocktails out in front of your house, getting ready to burn it to the ground? Seriously, I'm curious to know how you'd go about handling that situation, given that you're so quick to criticize others for their methods of dealing with it.

This is a topic for another thread, but call 911 and wait for the police and/or firefighters to come.

Though I will also note that defending your home (where you would be defending your life and that of your loved ones) is not quite the same as defending your business (where you would "merely" be defending property)

I hold slightly more sympathy for people defending their home, though as always specifics matter.
So, stay inside a burning home or business until the cops may or may not show up?

No, obviously if your house is on fire you should escape or put out the fire. But at that point shooting people will not solve anything anyways.

And cops should show up. If not, add "police should be faster when attending emergencies" to the list of issues with the police
What if these people are armed and will shoot or hurt you if escape the burning building? Then what?

Well, then you die I guess, unless cops come to save you. But if a mob of tens of people comes armed at your home I doubt you could survive regardless of whether or not you shoot at them first.

Real life is not Call of Duty, and you are not going to get a "10 kill killstreak" if suddenly tens of people armed with guns come knocking on your door with the intent of killing you, your family and burning all you have.
You are insane.

You beat me to writing precisely that. Even if I die protecting my family, at least I'm sending a half dozen or so to their doom. People who don't respect property forfeit their right to life.

Read my lips:

size=20pt The Republicans are not going to win IA-2. Anyone who says otherwise is either a dumbass, someone who doesn't live in Iowa, or someone who wants to sell you an agenda./size

Oof, I guess we should've known this was incorrect when you uttered the iconic "Read my lips" my good friend! Wink

It doesn’t weight for education, for god’s sake.

Why on earth are people giving this poll ANY consideration then, considering the big talking point is that was what caused 2016's error.

This should've been obvious at the time since weighting for education was about finding hidden non-college people.

Oh hey now.  Just seeing this.

I guess all the other polls of Iowa are wrong, as well as the hundreds of other polls released just in the last month painting the exact opposite picture of this poll's demographic shifts.

Reminder that Selzer cancelled their own final pre-Iowa poll this year, and then the results were leaked and had Buttigieg in third place.

This poll is... just so bad. So Selzer found a steady race for the entire summer and early fall, and then it surges from a tied race in that time period (multiple times), to Biden suddenly .... crashing and losing 6/7% of his vote share?

Not to mention this is their final poll, and we're still seeing margins of 48/41, with 11% undecided/other, and 12% in the senate race. That's unacceptable. Also, we're talking like Hillary 2016 national margins if Trump is up by 7 here.

Also LOL at Biden going from a +12 lead with Indies last time to…. Trump with a +14 lead now? I mean people really can't be taking this seriously? Selzer is embarrassing themselves here.

I look forward to mocking Selzer in a few days

Do you now? So I guess that gives us full license to mock your complete stupidity and arrogance?

Acknowledging small sample sizes, my experience with phonebanking/canvassing tells me that "don't wanna tell you my vote" probably tilts towards older voters. I also suspect Trump has more support in that group than Biden.

Oddly, the only age group Biden is winning in this poll is 65+.

noob Time of Death of Reputation approx. 11:00 PM 11/3/20

And The Economist, when I cancel my subscription, will not be an enviable position either.

I won't even both cross-posting the stupid discussion on the age crosstabs, which showed ignorance at the time it was posted.

Can't believe anybody here is this low IQ.

Good policy; I hope it gets replicated elsewhere.

May we eventually regulate tobacco into non-existence.

Shall we also repeal the 21st Amendment?

A lot of society's problems would be fixed if we did that (no more drunk parents beating up children, no more accidents due to drunk driving, no more brawls at bars, no more gambling while drunk (which causes people to lose track of how much they actually gambled))

Conversion efforts are abusive to congregants. By sending their followers out to "spread the good word," religions do not expect to win any new adherents. They assume (correctly) that the outside world will be hostile to their attempts, and that normal people will balk at them and be rude to their members. Then, when the congregants return to the security of the cult, they feel welcomed and at home again. The familiarity of the group calms their anxiety, and they are gradually taught to hate and fear those outside of the cult through conditional exposure. The goal is not to convince anyone to join the faith; that's just icing on the cake. On the contrary, their intention is to solidify their flock's dependence upon the cult by making them feel isolated, persecuted, and victimized. It's an insidiously genius method.

I think this deserves a serious answer, but I also know that you consider religion per se abusive to congregants, so maybe there's a premise problem.
I'm not sure what sort of serious answer you'd expect to a post like that. It is plainly true that many religions do grow through evangelization, so the premise that religions do not expect or intend to win converts is incorrect. The rest is the sort of anti-religious ranting that is standard for Dule, and I am grateful that he saved us the trouble by posting it directly into the thread.

I appear to have struck a nerve. Perhaps you'll think about this post the next time you ring somebody's doorbell to give them some "literature."

Has this ever happened to you? I can safely say I've never seen that sort of thing except from being forced to buy Buddhist pamphlets on the street.

Anyone worried about a mistrial here?

For cases like this it shows that there needs to be the option of a supermajority verdict if an absolute verdict can't be reached.

The question is what’s “cases like this” - trials of state agents?
Cop trials/trials with the risk of political upheaval/etc.

It would be bluer than DC. What many Americans don't realize is that their country is uniquely right-wing.

$174,000 is hardly middle class these days, so it's no surprise that you can't accumulate much on that. That's barely enough for one person, and he chose to have five moochers in his household.

Little rich girl thinks nearly 4 times the median income is "hardly middle class these days" /eyeroll/

I literally cannot wait until they cure autism so people like you can capture tone from basic context clues. But hopefully they will sooner ban you (again) for your continued escalations and inability to play nicely.

I am option 5 but it doesn't get our family very far in NoVA.

It's really insulting that you think so little of us to tell outright fibs. Living paycheck to paycheck is a lifestyle choice for this income bracket anywhere so if your family chooses to live in line with its income, that is not the same thing as not actually having much. Especially if the home is owned, I have even less sympathy.

The only thing in NoVa that I find excessively priced compared to every high CoL metro in the country is the restaurants seem to be a little pricier. Easy cost to cut.

Happy? I have years of posting history to support it.

It is always the same pattern with you.

Use a willful misunderstanding to attack someone - make no apology for schoolyard taunts when the record is corrected - play "I'm so innocent" when you get the same type of response in return

There should be no place on this forum for someone who enjoys being so belligerent and gets off on conflict. And yet for some reason they let you back into population even though you cannot play nicely.

Your "forced ignore" list isn't big enough - and very well may never be because you'll always find some poor soul to play your sick games with.

Wow. Just wow. Not only is this a cluelessly classist post implying that poverty or even middle class people struggling to get by in some sort of Lifestyle choice rather than a problem with income inequality and everybody not making a bit shy of 200k a year as so-called barely middle class all on top of your having a history of being a nasty racist,  but now you attack another poster for supposedly being autistic whether true or not?

I don't want to get modded so please just imagine the most invective names imaginable being directed at you, because Lord knows you've just proving yourself deserving of them

Thank you once again for proving yourself incapable of clicking through the link and reading for context that PEOPLE MAKING MORE THAN $250,000 living paycheck to paycheck is a lifestyle choice. I don't know why we let illiterate people post here.

And the only history of posts deleted for "racism" in my history are one for being anti-white and arguably one for being anti-English, and I know those ain't what you're talking about, so please quit slandering me. TIA.

I was looking for the comedy goldmine but I guess this is sufficient for the king of all non-sequitur anecdotes

if your business model relies entirely on not paying the people who actually are out there as the face of it and are risking bodily injury while putting in the work, then your business shouldn't exist.

The issue: there are over 1,000 NCAA schools. Less than 25 have profitable athletic departments.

Just looking up one random university, there's a school called Cameron University. A public university in Oklahoma. It has a 21 percent graduation rate.
