The political side of me is actually rooting for Trump’s indictment because it’ll hopefully clear a path for DeSantis.
I have a feeling an indictment will probably benefit Trump, as he'll use it as proof that the establishment has it in for his 2024 campaign.  It will feed well into his platform.

The more logical side of me agrees that it'll help Trump in the primary, but hurt him in the general. That is why Democrats are going after him.

It'll harden the die hards, definitely, but will it convert swing voters? Will he be able to peel off DeSantis's base voters? That's the big question.

DeSantis’s base voters are the people that like Trump too.

Democrats want to run against Trump . Republican voters : You need to vote for DeSantis to ensure democrats don’t get what they want from this witch-hunt

Why is this a "witch hunt"?

Because beep boops mummy and daddy and many members of his family and friends of family voted for trump. And they couldn't have voted for someone who committed a crime! Angry

First of all , neither of my parents voted for Trump and second of all how the heck couldn’t you see I was using Trump supporter language to try to convince them to not vote for Trump in the primary .

I'd like to apologize for the unreasonableness from many fellow red avatars. The inability to see things from a blue avatar perspective is too common in us, taken as a whole.

Computer96 is hardly any more in tune with Republicans than the red avatars are. This is a guy who earlier this week thought George Bush would be a good surrogate for DeSantis.

If he wins the nomination, and I specifically said in Arizona and Georgia where there are many swing voters who liked Bush but hated Trump .

Those voters are called Democrats now. The days of R+20 Rockdale County are gone. And any popularity Bush once enjoyed here is now gone.

OSR rushing to Trump's defense after pretending to not like him? What a shock.

I support his prosecution for January 6th and will not defend him from those charges . I am so certain that I won’t that I’ll make a deal with a mod on here which is if I do then you can mute me from this board for 72 hours .

What a bold deal. You get muted from a relatively anonymous board for 3 whole days!!?

Democrats are charging him over something like this so he can look like a poltical martyr to republicans as they want to run against Trump in 2024.

Much as this is hard for Republicans to grasp, the Justice Department is not at the beck and call of the President, and the Attorney-General is not the President's personal lawyer.

The Manhatten  DA is an elected democrat though and he certainly wants to see the democrats run against Trump .

So it's a Democrat vs. "Democrats."  Got it.

You know, you really aren't a good poster.

Sometimes I wonder if he’s a staffer for the NRSC or NRCC. Almost every political take is the worst possible, and it’s what leads to the establishment’s chosen candidates getting displaced by the likes of Trump, Mastriano, Lake, etc.

It reads pretty weak. I guess we’ll wait to see what these unspecified other crimes are and what the actual evidence is, though.

Given these charges and Alvin Bragg record of having being weak on far more serious offenses , I don’t know how the argument can be made that these weren’t politically motivated . The precedent this opens up is gonna ruin American politics for a while to come

American politics has been ruined for decades.

Apparently the next hearing has been set for December 4?!?

Perfect timing for the early primary states
