Outdoor mask wearing is back up to well over 50% in my neck of the woods.  Things are going backwards fast!

As long as it's optional, who cares? People can dress however they want.

People can wear whatever they want.  Its a sign of liberal neurosis and mass hysteria, however, that so many people are wearing cloth face coverings in open air, in a neighborhood that is over 90% vaccinated.  I will continue to comment on the illogical things I see.

Northsider here and you ain’t lyin. I’m pretty consistently the only person walking around my neighborhood maskless the past few weeks. Not sure if it’s neuroses, hysteria or straight up virtue signaling, but it’s everywhere. I swear Chicago will be permanently masked no matter how the next year or so shakes out.

A few days in to the end of Illinois' six-month-long mask mandate, almost no one is wearing them from what I have seen, except for the Ash Wednesday service that I attended this evening where almost everyone was wearing them.

I wonder if people who attend Mass are more likely to wear a mask or if people feel more guilty at Mass and put them on while there.

Still seeing a lot in my neighborhood, though mostly outside. My office lifted their mask requirement on Monday and 99% of people immediately ditched them.

Just went to Chicago for the 1st time in 2 years. It is a completely different planet regarding covid compared to anywhere else I have been. I had a meeting with the Dean of my Alma mater and I and I planned on getting a haircut from my old Barber beforehand. When when I walked in for my appointment the 1st thing they did was shove a mask in my face, and it turned out they are not even offering beard trims. I ended up having to get a haircut somewhere else, which was no problem because it was a very good haircut anyway. And then last night when I went to to get a hotel karma they were not even allowing people into the Robbie because of "covid concerns on" oh. When I said I was surprised that the county was still making them do that, they said it was not the county and that was their own choice because" covid is out of control right now on" . Of course that might have had something to do with the fact that both the people working there probably weigh 400 pounds. While on campus I saw a petition from petition from a group called "students for disability Justice" or something along those lines calling for the school to return it's old mask mandate and go back to remote learning.. The petition said in its text that even if covid were to cease to exist they Still think universal masking should be required because of the cold and flu.

I feel like I just walked through a portal into an alternate universe. I have not seen anything like this in a long time, even in very liberal places.

This is what it feels like to live here right now, it’s a totally different universe. Went to a movie tonight and to a bar for drinks afterward and I was in the minority not wearing a mask in either. Also lots of outdoor masking, lots of people wearing useless bandanas and thin cloth masks. It’s clear to me that the neuroses just hit this city like a ton of bricks and I don’t see a world where that improves.
