Funniest outcome would be a 4 way Union/Greens/SPD/FDP pile up at 20% with AFD at 10 and Linke at 6.

Just imagine the wacky district maps.

Can you even fit 778 members in the Reichstag chamber?

I have seen the numbers on twitter and all I can say is that every party is within the margin of error of the polling averages.

Save your hot takes until we have some results yes? With mail ballots expected to amount to half of the votes cast exit polls this year can be faulty.

CSU projected winning 44/46 direct mandates in Bavaria. Considerably better than expected, and is not just going to screw up the seat distribution by 3 Seats but also blow up the Bundestag into the high 700s. SPD, FDP and Greens have announced that they are going to cull the direct mandates, if necessary without the CDU/CSU, to 250 from the next election but still completely idiotic situation. Especially from the State and Party that likes to accuse the rest of Germany of wasteful spending and excessive bureaucracy.

By 2081 every German citizen is member of the Bundestag, Germany finally achieves direct democracy.

I am calling for a complete and total ban of American tourists entering the International Election board until we can figure out what the hell is going on.

DIE LINKE is currently ahead in Wahlkreis 84,86 and 153 (2 Berlin seats and 1 in Leipzig). Looks like they will make it even if they end up under the threshold.

One of the most ridiculous thing about following Bundestag elections is that there is no centralized site for partial counts. You have to google local municipalities to find out how the count is currently looking like.

You have to comb through the municipal websites for the partial counts. Examples:
Berlin
Munich
Leipzig

FW getting 10%+ in rural Bavaria. I think they would be a major threat to the Union in the next election.

Any chance Die Linke falls below 5% threshold thus not able to get top up seats?  Looks like it will be close.

No, because they're winning their 3 direct constituencies, so they'll still be entitled to PR seats even if they fall below 5%.

They're only ahead In 2 atm

Source? Haven't seen any update since:

DIE LINKE is currently ahead in Wahlkreis 84,86 and 153 (2 Berlin seats and 1 in Leipzig). Looks like they will make it even if they end up under the threshold.

They're still ahead in all 3 with 80-90% of the vote in. I believe its safe to call it for them.

Aurich-Emden with 43,3% Zweitstimme for the SPD. I believe it was the SPD's strongest constituency in 2017 too.

We have our first SPD->CDU flip of the night.
CDU general secretary Paul Zemiak wins Märkischer Kreis II.

CSU also loses their first direct mandate. München-Süd goes green.

Olaf Scholz wins Potsdam – Potsdam-Mittelmark II – Teltow-Fläming II with 34% of the vote way ahead of Annalena Baerbock with 18,8%.

Yes, this is a real noble running as a MLPD candidate. She won 413 votes in Gotha-Ilm Kreis.

AFD 18% (-0.6)
CDU 17.4% (-15.7)
LINKE 11.1% (-6.8 )
