Neither. The seperatists have legitimate grievances, but the Georgians are fighting Putin.

And until Versailles, you could say POLAND IS A PART OF GERMANY/AUSTRIA-HUNGARY/RUSSIA. Does that make it right? Or do you just not believe in national self-determination?

I'm sorry, but it hard for a true American to support Russia. Even if Russia is right, which I don't think they are. Russia is just trying to show the USA and NATO that Georgia is there county and we can't have them part of NATO. Russia is just trying to show its power by beating up on a small country, much like a big bully beating up a little kid to show other people he is strong.

No, more like a big kid beating up a medium-sized kid because that kid is beating a bunch of little kids who want to be the friend of the big kid.

And what's this ѕhit about "true Americans"?

Russia hate America, Russia isn't a free country at all, look at their last election.

Considering how much I detest Russia, Georgia. I'd even support Communist China if a war were ever fought between the two.

That would be the ultimate decision for me, given how much I hate both of those countries Tongue

China > Russia >>>>>>>> Israel

I agree.

Guys, look at this at a way bigger picture. Russia, dosen't like America, Iran doens't like America. How do you get these two counties boards to touch or come so to it so Russia can give nukes to Iran. Oh well look at here, Georgia, we take them over and Russia and Iran are very close to touching.

You don't need a border to trade nukes. You just need nukes.

I weakly support Georgia. Mostly due to the precedent this would set if Russia does get all it wants in this conflict.
All Russia wants? Which is? According to most analysts it's the status quo. Although a more amenable (but, preferably, still remotely utilizable as bugbear - think the Shevardnadze days) Kartvelian government would no doubt be interesting, and appetites may be whetted by events.

Russia has an ego issue, isn't that obvious? Subduing Georgia would go some way is satisfying their hunger... for a while.

No. They need to annex Alaska to staify their hunger.

That said, the first military action was undertaken by Georgia.

The first military action was undertaken by South Ossetians who broke the ceasefire by attacking two Georgian villages. Georgia simply retaliated.

This has been going on since Georgia's independence though. A few South Ossetian raiders would come over the border and attack a Georgian town, a Georgian raiding party would go across the South Ossetian border and attack a few villages or there would be sporadic artillery fire. What has never happened before, at least since 1992, if I recall correctly, has been a major military operation of the size and magnitude of Georgia's attack on South Ossetia with the intent of retaking the entire country.

True, but remember Russia had basically taken over Abkhazia a few months before, so the Georgians were understandably more concerned about South Ossetia than in the past.

Which was in turn caused by Saakashvili saying that if Abkhazia rejected his autonomy plan he would be forced to use military force against them. Really we can continue with this back and forth of measures and countermeasures all night until we finally reach 1990 and Georgian independence.
But Russians are supposed to be peacekeepers, a neutral party, so why have they direcly attacked Georgian soil and violated their airspace?

That's what peacekeepers do, if you haven't yet noticed.
