I have to go back to 2014 for the last time I knew things were going to be bad, I didn’t know how bad, and then I was surprised when they were worse than I expected. Honestly this is easier for me to deal with than 2020 and of course than 2016. Maybe I’ll be surprised but I don’t think so. We’ll see what gridlock and insanity looks like.

I’ve been here 15 years and I thought I’d seen everything, but we’re seriously going to do this Guam thing?

Lots of mockery of the idea you can extrapolate results from an isolated island territory but I'm with the people of Guam right now and I'm hearing a lot of anger about the "woke agenda" and "Brandonflation"... take that how you will...

I knew we were screwed when I saw the Chamorrx for Biden swag

Seriously, my only source of hopium is hoping that Republican polling leads and turnout advantages mean that Dems won’t have a terrible night because these “indicators” are wrong and the opposite has to come true like in other years. It is patently ridiculous but I know some of you feel that way too

Great, inflation + crime + immigration = 54% and that’s assuming all abortion and gun policy voters were Dem (not possible)

Those CNN demographics aren’t too crazy compared to 2018.

Disappeared for me about 10 minutes ago. I assumed it was a high traffic measure.

FOX's voter analysis has the Supreme Court at 51% approval.  That has to be a good sign for Republicans.

That's a bit lower than I would expect. The NYT/AP exit polls from 2020 said that 62% of voters were confident that the Supreme Court could be fair and impartial in their decisions (obviously not the same thing as overall approval, but it's the closest similar question in those surveys). While I agree that 51% approval is good news for the GOP overall, it could also be a sign that a growing number of left-wingers have become more disapproving of SCOTUS.

SC approvals dropped a lot in the last year, 51% may actually be high.

Okay but based Virginia Beach now? Were the early DOA results a little much now?

Youngkin won this district by like 8 points on that night didn’t he? Matching 2021 is enough

2021 was a strong year for the VA GOP. That is not the target Democrats want to hit.

A good Dem night counts on Dobbsian persuasion of high-propensity Biden-Youngkin type voters.

So my general impression at this admittedly still early hour is that outside of a massive red wave in Florida, Democrats are doing...not badly?  Thoughts?

I am feeling quite a bit better than 2 hours ago, heartened Dems have a good chance at holding the Senate.

Interesting that Blue avatars keep posting about Florida and ignoring the rest of the country.

They have gotten very quiet.

Is 2016 around?

I think the whole "demographics are destiny" narrative is being destroyed in real time. DeSantis and Rubio are tearing it up with Latinos, who were supposed to guarantee a "permanent Democratic majority" circa 2012. Meanwhile Laura Kelly may well win in lily white Kansas, and Maggie Hassan is clearly winning in also lily white New Hampshire.

Good for racial depolarization, I guess?

State is a different world than federal on these things so far...

Republicans are going to need that American flag from The Handmaid's Tale with two stars on it for Florida and Utah

I think people should really consider the possibility that the NY vote totals are very incomplete right now

There should be some GOP pickups soon. Enough to win the house, although not a wave by any means.

Is this the slaughter, Bob?

Democrats gained trifectas in Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota (pending), and Michigan

Republicans gained trifectas in.....nothing.

They got iowa

Didn’t they already have the Governor and both houses of the legislature? I’m certain they did. Winning other races doesn’t count.

Best line I've seen yet, and from a Republican:

It’s also a bad strategy for choosing what polls to track, Sean.

After the results.. I think terry mcauliffe must feel like an idiot more so now! His race last year was very winnable!

I don’t think so because of Dobbs.
