Just posting in this thread for posterity. The site's probably going to crash soon anyway.

My map is holding up so far. Minorities like myself were, in fact, taken for granted.

Remember when everyone was laughing at the media for calling the election close?

Starr County, border county in Texas:
2016: 9,289 Clinton 2,224 Trump
2020 (92%): 7,636 Biden 6,515 Trump

What the hell...?

Latin America says hello!

The only good side of Trump winning is forcing democrats to not disrespect Latino voters anymore but even then they would still probably do the same in 2024. I still don’t forget what they did after Bernie won in Nevada and the condescending stuff mainstream media said about his Latino base driving him to the win.

That said, democrats made a conscious decision to ignore minorities in order to appeal to moderate suburban women in WI, MI and PA. That can still pay off so people should wait. They just can’t act shocked with headlines “wHy arE LAtiNoS voTinG fOr tRuMp???”. But if Biden happens to lose and these people blame Latinos then they deserve everything they get.

This. Every time I brought up how much Democrats have disrespected my community this cycle, I got lectured by a red avatar on how no one but white liberals cares about kids in cages.

Keep broadcasting that contempt. Watch the base become smaller and more elite.

They have no one to blame but themselves.

Does anyone have any info on the Puerto Rican statehood referendum?

Oh, that's not fair. They can always blame us - and Russia!

True, only their designated evil foreign country this year will be China IMO.

But how are the aforementioned folks expanding this “base”?

Given Sanders' results in the primaries this year, Mexican-Americans- the fastest growing demographic in this country- are a recent addition.

Biden has got to spend the next 4 years appealing to Hispanics. Like, some of these results are embarrassing, especially against Trump.

I miss Tío Bernie.

In hindsight, Biden's poor performance in the Nevada caucuses should have been a warning sign for Democrats.
Its almost as if....people have been warning about Biden's Latino problem since June.

We were "concern trolls", remember?

I love watching you twist your own predictions to seem justified in your months of boasting.

I hope the takeaway is that ad hominem-filled rages at anyone who posts a map that doesn't show a Biden landslide, both on the 2020 board and elsewhere, aren't factual and rational responses.

I wonder what will come of Puerto Rican statehood if Trump wins. Most people here assumed they would be admitted under a Biden administration.

270-268. I predicted this for months but changed at the last minute. This will be the most violent, chaotic election since 1876.

Latinos identity as white, it shouldn't be that shocking they're open to voting a candidate of white identity politics.

You've never met a latino, have you? We're an ethnicity. Generally, we're mestizo, neither fully white nor fully native and between the two in the caste system. Some white Spaniards will identify as latino (see Cubans), but that's a gray area.

As a latino myself, my family and most other latinos I have met identify as white.

Because you have to check one or the other when it comes to race, since hispanic is counted as an ethnicity only. I could "pass" for the longest time myself until I got hit with discrimination. If it comes up, I'm not Tejano, btw, my relatives came over during the Mexican Revolution. I'm an ex-Californian.

I agree that it's a complicated identity, but no, a majority of hispanics still identify as a distinct group: https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2015/06/11/chapter-7-the-many-dimensions-of-hispanic-racial-identity/

Does Atlas have a policy for when they'll add the final 2020 election map to the data? Can they do it the moment the map is confirmed or does the site usually wait a little longer?

How is everyone feeling about Biden's chances right now?

And about Trump's chances?

I'm gonna guess a 270 EV Biden win followed by recounts, legal drama, maybe even congressional drama if there's a faithless elector.

I don't mean to sound like a broken record here with Puerto Rico, but seriously, we just saw the first step toward a 51st state. It's a "piss or get off the pot" referendum, statehood or independence. Statehood is leading right now. The government can't be forced to act, but surely Democrats will want to get behind this to improve their position for the 2022 midterms and 2024. Why is no one talking about it?

Why do people keep stating that independence is an option in the referendum? It's simply "statehood yes or no".

My mistake. People do keep saying that and it's making it unclear to those who aren't actively following the referendum, myself included. To be fair, it's tough to find a news source that's reporting on Puerto Rico right now with the presidential race so close.

Any idea when we can expect a Georgia update?

Dunno, apparently they can zoom through 95% of the votes late at night and then take their time with the other 5%. The Georgia way.

For pure aesthetics, I actually think the 270-268 map doesn't look that bad. It's no Jesusland, but the Upper Midwest in particular looks better without Minnesota and Illinois as islands and Arizona might finally connect the Pacific States to the New Mexico-Colorado stack. Red Pennsylvania's cut into the blue balances out Virginia's cut into the red. If you have to have a map to spur clashes and legal battles over and see in the news all the time, that's a decent one.

What happens to Trump after he loses? He simply... goes back to what he used to do before, which is nothing? Probably use his ex-president status to get money and pay his debts?

That’s kinda anticlimactic after the chaos of the last 4 years but it makes sense since life is not a movie or book plot even if politics under Trump were so cartoonish that it looked like it was.

But in the back of my mind I think I expected to have some kind of conclusive ending where the villain is defeated forever or even a redemption plot twist where it was revealed his enemies were the real bad guys. To have a close election with a marginal defeat of Trump is so casual, Republicans will control senate and push Biden to be more conservative and Trumpism will stay so alive after this that it doesn’t really feel like the end lived up to the hype the story set itself for with its middle and beginning.

Probably going to start a news channel or something, like he planned in 2016.

Georgia SoS has just confirmed there will definitely be a recount, but that's a little irrelevant with Pennsylvania likely done.

Biden won regardless, but for data's sake, I wonder who the Georgia recount will favor.
