Tilt D atm.

AZ trends aren't good for the GOP and despite their long control of Arizona they have a pretty weak bench.

the dems have all 3 moderate hero districts(although at this point the 6th is more competetive than the 9th)
GOP congressman are crazy, have ethics problems, or just weak candidates.

Dems also have a progressive military veteran Gallego who can run or they can run Grantwoods.

Ducey can't run due to SOS. the only GOP candidate that is strong is the state treasurer.

If Ducey is smart he won't nominate McSally. That'll be a smack in the face to voters, but then again, so is appointing someone for 2 years that the people have no say in so...

who else could he appoint besides her and Kimberly Yee

AZ GOP bench is absolutely garbage. And the voters didn't say no to Mcsally but more yes for Sinema.

I thought he retired anyway so might be another placeholder.
Kimberly YEE IMO should run for the GOP. She won by a good margin and has the good optics of I think the first female asian GOP senator. Cocaine Mitch should try for her.

Garbage bench? LMAO. I will remind Atlas that AZ is still a pink state, McSally just ran as a 2004 neocon and wasted all the opportunities afforded her to attack Sinema.

I can't think of a single candidate who will run besides Kimberly Yee that could win a GE against stanton, kirkpatrick ,or O hallerhan, or Grant Woods.

Kyl retiring on December 31st means that whoever is appointed will be senior senator over Krysten Sinema. That's really a d!ck move by Kyl.
However tbf it helps arizona overall

And also makes McSally Arizona's first female U.S. Senator rather than Sinema, who was duly elected as such.
And this also helps arizona by helping it keep seniority in the senate. I would absolutely support this move if i lived in arizona.

I actually hope ducey appoints mcsally. The attack ads write themselves for a situation like this. We look forward to defeating her again.

This, but it's so unfair she'd be the senior Senator.

Now that you bring this up I can only imagine how this only adds to the already very bad optics, an illegitimate senator becoming the senior senator.

looking forward to this, please ducey.

I understand why most of the posters here agree with Gallego. He is, in their eyes, the most viable option, and does represent the ever more progressive direction that the Democratic Party seems to be headed upon. At this rate, twenty years from now, to be a Democrat you will have to be staunchly pro-choice, in favor of universal healthcare and of a universal basic income, and staunchly pro-immigration, with no room for any sort of deviation or accommodation, or otherwise. And yes, the reverse seems to be coming true for the Republican Party as well. The ever widening gulf between the two parties continues to alarm me.

I think people are pointing that ideology hardly matters these days due to the polarization between parties. Even if Sinema was replaced with Gallego he may have lost some GOP votes but gained a lot of green votes.

Yeah, there’s no way Gallego is NOT in.

It definitely seems like he's going to run. He seems like an A level recruit, in my opinion. A Veteran, young, Hispanic, and he has years of Congressional experience. The only negative when it comes to running statewide would be his solidly liberal record in the House. But, he could easily pull a Simena and become/present himself as more moderate in the run up to the election. The moderate pivot worked well for her in 2018, and I don't see how it wouldn't in 2020 with Trump's negative approval rating in the state at this time. The fact that team Trump intentionally avoided bringing him to Arizona in 2018, feeling his presence would be a net negative for McSally, does not bode well for the Senate race with Trump at the top of the ticket in 2020.

Sinema has been a moderate hero for the past 8 years and she resided in a obama clinton Maricopa district so she could build a good profile.

It was comical since Mcsally attacked Sinema for opposing the Iraq War, showing your own service is popular to voters but reminding them what it was for, is not very popular.

It's really sad that the GOP has nowhere left to go for votes but asking poor whites to literally starve themselves and fork over their last dollar to fund the Conservative-Industrial-Grift Complex.
