Meanwhile in the real world...

While John Fetterman is either too busy posting memes on Twitter or going out on the street with his shotgun.. Dr. Mehmet Oz spends his days visiting businesses talking about real world issues that affect people.. actually talking to people

Why is the video from this weird angle lol? "Mom said it's my turn on the Xbox" vibes

It’s like they had Fetterman record it lol

538's official polling average page is up

Current average is Fetterman +8.3

Fetterman (D) 47.6%
Oz (R) 39.4%

ouch, it’ll be something if PA gets triaged

"Criminals Committing Crimes"

This is somehow dumber than the 1/3 nonsense.

Reminds me of this gem

"I'm not a witch" also came to mind (although that race was arguably less winnable).

What are these from? I know Land was the 2014 Michigan nominee

Land's 2014 "Really?" ad was notoriously awful and probably cost her the race.

Christine O'Donnell decided to face accusations that she had dabbled in witchcraft as a teen head on. It didn't end well.

who in their right mind would approve these ads Huh

The South Carolina equivalent would be saying “summter” “clemmson” (we through a p in both) not knowing what frogmore stew/low country boil is. Not having a favorite type of BBQ (South Carolina is a mix of ketchup and vinegar based)

No wonder he's on twitter 24/7

Given Mastriano's total collapse, it makes sense now that all Ds are essentially tying their opponents to him to get him to drag the other GOP candidates down with him.

Fetterman also introduced "Mozstriano" to join Oz/Mastriano together.  Smartest thing Ds can do is tie every GOP candidate to him.

POV you’re a candidate for the city council in Olympia desperately trying to convince voters your opponent is connected to Mastriano

I can’t believe Dr. Oz actually killed puppies…

If they wrote this into a TV show it’d be panned as unrealistic

There have been senators without arms and legs (Max Cleland), there’s been senators who were completely blind (Thomas Gore). There’s been senators who were 100 years old when elected (Storm Thurmond). Fetterman having occasional brain fog is such a nothing burger that it’s comical the blueys keep bring it up. It shows they literally have nothing against Fetterman so they’re just make shot up.

Having a stroke is absolutely scary and takes time. However, that means in Fetterman's case is that he should relax and rest. He is making some recovery, let him get all of it first before entaking one of the most stressful jobs in the world and potentially harming himself further.

A lot of conservatives are starting to get suspicious about his wife. I never really bought this theory but I am starting to consider it now. What if the plan was to get Fetterman in, have him resign, and Shapiro appoint his wife to the seat?

what

A week out, and Oz has still been silent publicly. No public concession message, no post to social, no nothing. He's just as terrible as expected.

He's probably on vacation in Ireland

I'm still numb. Fetterman had a stroke and still won. I don't get it. Oz is stupid.

A stroke has and likely never again will be a disqualifying thing. He’s not in a coma, he’s not blind, he’s not immobile, he just has a few blips every now and then which is basically how a majority of senators are. Health rarely has any baring on a persons electability. Max Cleland was a senator with just one limb for god sakes, and countless current congressmen have missing parts, have gone blind, or have other ailments that could potentially impede their ability to serve. This isn’t the days of Thomas Eagleton or Lawton Chiles

I also think in this case, the GOP pounced on it way too outright and aggressively to the point it just made them look like a-holes. Had they attacked Fetterman a bit more implicitly, maybe they would've been able to get away with it.

I will also add, for whatever reason, Americans are incredibly progressive on disability issues and accepting of different abilities. Go to Europe or Central America the differences in accessibility is very stark.

We can never let conservatives forget how cruel, nasty, and mean-spirited they were during that week after the debate.

They weren’t just at that, they seemed borderline like a case of shared psychosis. They were acting like Fetterman was this wheelchair bound drooling incoherent hospice resident, when he just used basic aids found in many different political settings. And not just that he was on the brink of death, but democrats knew he was and his whole campaign was some grand conspiracy to have his wife(?!) become a senator. Which, should he have died, isn’t that unusual or horrible. The only reason I could figure they were aghast by it is because she’s a brown immigrant

His medical condition means that he is really likely to die before he finishes his first term, I  read that average life expectancy is 2 years (Senators though get better healthcare), so it's all about who will the Governor appoint.

I doubt his replacement will have his working class charisma.

Citation needed.
Didn't take me long to find a report:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4558350/

61.5% mortality for men 55-74 within 10 years, however Fetterman is very very obese and he's suffered severly already at just the age of 53, so probably the 50/50 is way less than 8 years, so the 2-3 years for 50/50 I read in the Autumn about Fetterman is probably correct.

The Senate though provides excellent healthcare so his lifespan ought to be extended beyond the expected, 6 years though might be a bridge too far even with Senate Healthcare.

Where are you getting Fetterman is “obese” to the point of detrimental health. He’s large sure but “obese” rarely has detrimental health and is grossly over used as it’s often based on the very fault BMI metric

Why is obese in scare quotes? Metabolic syndrome is not rare LMAO, being 400 pounds is horrible for your body, BMI is not flawed for 99% of the country

his stroke was likely due to hypertension or an atherosclerotic plaque breaking off, both of which he probably had or once suffered from

BMI is incredibly flawed as it’s just a ratio of height and weight. You have athletes who are considered “obese”, which is the extreme but genuinely as a 5’9 190 person I am considered obese. I have no real health consequences as a side affect. This is from my doctor not just wish finding on health blogs.

Fetterman is also 6 foot 9. He is very tall. I’m not going to argue he’s in perfect health but he’s certainly not on death’s door as some people are trying to suggest. But again we are going off one stroke and his publicly recorded stats, who knows his actual health is like. Publicly he seems in well health.

Any particular reason we’re rehashing Fetterman’s stroke months after the election? Did something else happen or is this just nostalgia?

Because he is not healthy.

He should not be on the Democratic ticket in 2024 or 2028 or 2032.

It's sad.

Fetterman's stroke shows that working class people have hard lives and universal health care should be a reality.

Also, working class people should eat better and exercise.

This is also a social justice issue. How do you go to a gym on a $15/hr salary? What kind of food can you afford? What kind of food is accessible to wherever you can afford rent?

It's weird that ppl obsess over his health tho when multiple outlets have been insinuating that Dianne Feinstein has alzheimers since 2017. We just let California get represented for a whole term by a woman who doesn't always know who she is speaking to or what's going on. Prolly nobody cares cuz she's not a threat to our precious capitalism

You misunderstood, poor people should just magically be healthier, to hell with food stamps or a livable wage! All social ills can be solved by blunt force will alone, and anyone who says otherwise is a dirty commie
