There has probably been a tiny “rally round the flag” effect in Trump’s favor the last week or so, maybe 2-3 points.  But it’s really pathetic compared to what we should normally expect.

I saw a recent poll showing that the Italian PM’s approval had jumped 27 points (from 44% to 71%!) since the start of the coronavirus crisis.

This is terrifying. It's bad enough if Trump wins despite COVID-19, it's far worse if he wins because of COVID-19.

COVID-19 will result in Trump's re-election, I guarantee it.

You've been guaranteeing it ever since it became clear that Bernie would lose the nomination.

Trump is seeing a rally-round-the-flag effect.  It's very common in terms of crisis, and it usually doesn't last long.

Joe Biden is a horrible candidate. Even if he doesn't actually have cognitive decline, lots of people think he does, and that matters more. Plus, he may not be progressive enough to energize young voters.

Trump's approval rating, per the 538 tracker, is now at 45.1%, the highest level in about three years. I'm terrified; his bungled response to COVID-19 is going to help him get re-elected.
